Bit annoyed

Dont pour brake fluid over it.

It may have been stolen and dumped there to see if it has a tracker. Ring the police and find out if it has been.

Just an update, the car was gone this evening when I got home, mine is safely tucked away in the garage tonight so I hope the golf doesn't reappear.

My GF saw the owner before I got home and asked him to move it, unfortunately she didn't realise it had been blocking my garage all night or she would have had stronger words. Annoyingly this means the golf was parked there all afternoon as well.

Oh and to those who suggested calling round to see whose car it was - not a good idea after midnight! Didn't have time to do it in the morning either, but would have done this evening if he was still there.

Think I am going to put a sign on the garage asking people to keep clear.

Thanks again for your comments, i'll update if there are any future developments. :)

Smash it so the alarm went off, im sure you would have found the cuplrit at that time.

P.S - Not a good idea really.

Technically they didn't break the law, but they would have been breaking the law if your car had been in the garage at the time. It's only an offence to obstruct someone's access to the public highway, it's not an offence to obstruct public access to private property such as a driveway or garage.

Stupid isn't it?

so in short

block somebody out and its fine

just dont block somebody in lol.

And if it's a garage, you don't know if you're committing an offence or not, unless you break into the garage to check.

I know what you mean, that is all I have had the last 2 weeks is someone blocking my driveway so I cant the car out, and cause people panic due to the snow being down and afraid they get stuck down the street, people are parking and walking 5 mins away. I had a KA block me in from 6ish at night last sunday till the next morning, and I cant go door to door, as they go and I would have to knock about 45 - 50 doors to find them.

Got really annoyed and glad the snow is melting finally.

If your car is on the driveway and they block it, then get the police involved. If you're lucky they might realise that this is an easy ticket and thus will improve their stats. I guess it depends how far away your live from the station.

When I lived with my mother, we had parking spaces at the rear, that never used to be allocated, until one annoying neighbour, ****ed off that she couldn't get the space she wanted all the time complained and demanded that we be allocated parking spaces.

So once the management company sent us a letter, I asked for the space that she wanted - being that it was probably closest to my house, I thought I stood a pretty good chance of getting it, and sure enough, I did!

After this, she would continue to park in what was now my space, if she didn't her numerous visitors that she'd have daily would!

I just use to park close enough to hold a coin between the bumpers, so they'd have to come and knock on my door and apologise to get their car out.

On a completely different occasion, a friend had someone park in front of his garage, with his car stuck inside, and unable to open the door - he called me and another friend up, and we rock bumped the car out in to the middle of the road and simply left it there - thirty minutes later the police were there, five minutes after that they had located the registered owner - I'd have loved to have heard that conversation!

This isn't always the case actually. Many areas have bylaws governing the enforcement of parking. Indeed in London the TFL Act gives councils the right to tow and then fine the owners of any vehicle parked on any dropped kerb, private or otherwise, given that a complaint has been made.
