In some ways it's very similar to shadows. However I went with a 2TB storage drive, the 460 SOC is a lil more money but runs faster so it runs games better but CUDA should also benefit from the higher shader clock.

However I do still need to build it, install windows and do the overclock. It's just to give you an idea of what's possible if you do it yourself.

i know where your coming from and thanks for your help..pity u didnt work at oc..your more helpful...i wonder is it they wont build a spec like yours here now cuz of conflicts..with there systems they test them ...they did suggest the battlefield war rush I5.. on the I7 spec with 27" oal monitor the price was £1,357.25 monitor was £185

Well for those uses an i7 is probably a lil overkill. You appear to be re-encoding movies mainly so an i5K with 8GB of RAM would be more than adequate (and cheaper) especially when overclocked.

I would also suggest you look at DVDfab (software). That one program will cover everything you seem to be doing in one program!

DVDfab also supports cuda and quick sync (from lucid virtu). Basically by having a dedicated graphics card the software can get the job done quicker!!

That's my build with the adjustments. Obviously you would need that built for you so there is an added cost. You could use a cheaper graphics card I suppose if you wanted to cut costs further....just make sure you have one so you can use quicksync in DVDfab to "turbo charge" the process.

If buying one prebuilt is going to be much easier just try and find something similar to the specs i've used.

P.S You also qualify for free delivery having been a member over a year and having 100 posts!!

LOL That's the beauty of custom building you can tailor the build better to what you want.

It seems your interests are very film orientated. If you have a HDTV with HDMI inputs you could infact run the PC through the tv.

You could add more RAM but personally I would swap the DVD writer for a blu-ray ROM or writer if I was spending more. Adding RAM is soooo easy to do anyway, like I said you get free delivery so you could order more later if you saw it come up on a special offer ;)

The mobos BIOS will have an option to auto overclock the system. The gelid heatsink is popular as it keeps the CPU cool for a very reasonable price, by keeping the CPU as cool as poss the headroom on the overclock increases basically :)

P.S

Think of overclocking like this. Most flash fast road cars are electronically limited to 155mph, if you remove that limiter they will do 200mph quite happily. So if you can keep your CPU cool enough you can get the full potential from your engine (CPU) by removing the "Limiter" (OC'ing) ;)

It's an awesome program!! You want the "DVD creator" tab on the left side of the window. You then drag and drop or point it to your encoded movie file and it will convert it to dvd (just like convertxtodvd does)

Pass john. The source should be your video file and the target is the DVD writer.

I can't lie I have never used it for that, I just know it has the ability to do it. I use it just to rip blu-ray and dvds. I'll soon be having a bash at making my 2D movies 3D with it.

Building them is like playing with adult lego, using them is far more tricky lol

Your welcome fella. If you see that green tick on the toolbar on DVDfab that gets you into the settings. Under the A/V codec section you can enable the quick sync/CUDA/DVXA goodness depending on your hardware :)

Have a play with the software and think about what you want from the machine. As a film buff you might like a custom home theatre PC (HTPC). They do cases which emulate the pro audio look of seperate amplifiers and you run the system through your large HDTV.

You could start a new HTPC thread. Explain it's for watching, encoding, decoding Bluray/DVD movies and burning essentially. If that's all you are really doing with the rig. Like I said my graphics card choice is gaming capable you could opt for a cheaper card and still keep the video encoding "extras". See what the spec gurus come up with for you, doesn't hurt to ask and look :)

Hi again would you know of a good mp3 album program to burn mp3 i use nero to burn but now with that dvdfab i wont be using it ..

I use imgburn for writing. If you want to convert mp3 to cd audio you have to create a CD cue file. If the CD will be played in a drive that can read mp3s you dont need to bother.

You can still use nero as a burning tool, you just don't "need" it for video encoding anymore :)

ok thanks ..had no internet for 2 days ...that dvdfab is good found out how to do img and iso ..will it join 2 avi together then burn ...tried all last night couldnt do it ...any help plz

This thread is going waaaaay off topic now lol

It's not designed for that John. It's to rip dvds and blurays although it does let you burn rips too.

You are looking for something like avidemux. You open the video and then append the next file and save.

That's about all the help your going to get from me now unless you start paying consultation or tuition fees lol

ok point taken.. i'm gunna buy that spec tmorow ..i gunna ask for someone on here who live local to me if they will help me build the system.. will pay them or course..where should i ask wot department thinngy ///John
