** BITFENIX LAUNCH HIGH-END RANGE OF POWER SUPPLIES WITH ALCHEMY CABLES!! **

Am I correct in thinking that these have braided cables? I must have missed that fact in the OP and every other post in the thread...

Supplies with braided cables exist. But they are all ultra high wattage which not many people realistically need. Now there is a supply with a unique selling point on the market and we are having a moan because an added extra commands a premium?

Seriously guys, name one PSU brand doing anything remotely innovative like this recently.

I personally like them, loving that fan grill btw guys the only thing that I would like is if they were fully modular as some people may not like the fact that 24 pin only comes in black .... That sticker on the side will have to go as well :p

I don't see why people are complaining, nobody has to buy them, more choice is always a good thing for the consumer, at the end of the day it's £100 for a gold rated 550w PSU that looks "teh sex", with a 5 year warranty and alchemy braided cables, FSP are a good OEM even though the may be a few considered above them.

Talk about first world problems, it's like listening to people whining because they turned on a wildlife documentary and it wasn't narrated by David Attenborough!

I think the point is that they shouldn't have bothered. They should have launched them with normal braided cables at a far more reasonable price. If people want to buy individually braided extensions then let them buy them as extra's. They are going to alienate the vast majority of buyers launching these units with a premium price tag.

It's not a premium price tag, a Corsair Gold 650w PSU plus optional cables costs ~£35 more than the BF 650 unit and doesn't look half as good, the only bonus is you get Seasonic instead of FSP and whither that offsets the BF's aesthetic and cost advantages is entirely up to the person choosing.

Personally I would have taken the 750W unit over my Corsair one if it was on sale at the time, hell it looks so good I may have taken it over my EVGA Supernova 1KW.

That's the thing though, the individually sleeved cables should be a option and not forced on the buyer bumping up the price. Most people won't want them and will go for a far cheaper psu. If the case has no windows who cares anyway? Hell, the only cables you can see in mine are the 8 pin, 24 pin and pci-e cables and even then only a couple of inches of them. I am more than happy with the flat black cables on my Seasonic and knowing i got a bigger capacity psu from a better OEM for less money than the Bitfenix 550w.

Were not making you buy them. Have you seen our PSU range it's huge, in your case buy one of the other less costly options that don't come with Alchemy braided cables.

Bit harsh Gibbo. I think the point everyone is edging towards, is that they (the customers) are more than happy to buy BitFenix's newly launched PSU products! If they didn't include the Alchemy braided cables as standard due to the premium in price it adds, myself included.

BF could've made the braided cables extras, or if they wanted to keep the braided cables standard, to release these maybe in their 2nd series of PSUs once they break into the market with something fantastic. Which would've been this first launch if they didn't come with such a premium.

I'm sure these will sell, but they could've made a better entry first with a lower price tag (i.e. no Alchemy braided cables to begin with)..

EDIT -
Not sure if it's just me, but the graphic text on the PSU side sticker look a little tacky and misaligned, unless that was the aim (I hope not)?

Wrote long post, forum ticket expired & lost it... Grr!

Basically... Bitfenix should be offering these fully modular with an reduced cost, or a bundled alchemy extension pack of the buyers colour choice.

Use the incredible market-leading alchemy cables and introduce the flexibility of the wide colour range to offer PSU's for anyone's colour scheme! Including those who don't want a black ATX connector! :p

Stu, get that one sent through to your product suggestions guys! ;)

BitFenix wanted a USP this is it.
Do I agree with it? No but BitFenix want a way to enter the Market that gives them a USP, so far it seems to be working, its causing plenty of banter. ;)

In my view BitFenix should be offering PSU's like this but with basic all black cables and connectors for a reduced price along with also a Bronze versions as well to hit aggressive price points. Maybe they will listen or maybe they won't, time will tell. :)

Right now for people who want a decent PSU with alchemy braided cables included this is good value.

Right now for those who want a good quality Gold PSU for a less price with normal cables there are many other great brands, Corsair, Superflower etc.

I did. I got a better more powerful unit for less money when you had the Seasonic G750w at £99.99.

This would be exactly my purchase, I am not interested in cables,i just want about the best quality PSU I can get so I'd only buy Seasonic or Superflower and I've got a Superflower as I love the bling from the White LEDs :D

100% agreed.

*hint hint* Stu better be writing this down for the team! ;)

Think they should leave the side sticker off though it would look much better with that logo on the bottom and no labels
