Let me start off by saying I have only ever built ATX pc's before, i currently have an ATX build but i fell in love with the bitfenix case! Its small yet big enough to take many high end gear and is capable of taking water!!!!

My ATX build will be used for my gaming, i currently use it for everything but seeing as i have a little cash to blow i thought i would make an ITX pc for my developmental purposes :)

You may think that some bits are OTT and others are underwhelming but the components i have chosen suits my needs.

I have bought some bits already, others like the case are on back order and others im yet to buy so this build log will span a couple of months.

I will however be doing regular updates and posting lots of nice shinny pictures :)

These are the specs of my mini build :)

3 x BitFenix Spectre Plain BLACK 120mm Fan £5.99 (17.97)
Total : £1,361.89 (includes shipping : £20.10).

The big question will be....... How well will it overclock? ITX + Ivybridge = ??? most threads iv seen are about temps, trying to keep them down with water etc, mine will be on a small scale and air cooler, alber a good air cooler!

I was thinking somewhere around 4.5GHz? i will en devour to get 4.8GHz stable if the temps are ok!

The next question will be how well will the samsung green do on the asrock ITX board? again i will be trying to push for 2400MHz but i will settle for 2133MHZ

Please let me know what you think? :)

I'd say get a H100 in the Prodigy too. Then it will give better temps and better airflow through the rest of the case

i was thinking the same thing! i still have time to return the venom voodoo, i may just do that! i have a lot of faith with the h100 :) i want to see if the case could take a
push pull config on the rad!

I love how your 2nd pc is about 20 times that of my main xD
Cant wait to see the prodigy in action

thanks buddy, i cant wait either, only three weeks till the case arrives :)

I think in the prodigy you can't get push pull in the top of the case but I recon if you remove both HDD cages you could get the H100 in the front? Don't know, not seen the case in person but it looks that way to me.
I'm sure you could fine a place to mound the HDD elsewhere

EDIT: Here looks like you may need to remove the ODD drive bay

OMG that is so helpful! i wont get the h100 as i need an ODD, i know the voodoo will fit, according to that thread a cooler of 180 will fit and the voodoo is 165!

An h80 could be an option?

ty for finding that :)

sub'ed :) very interested in this

cool :)

I think OCUK need to update their image of the bitfenix spectre on thir site the plastic is see-through? im not complaining
the fan feels well made with a strong magnet and i long power cable, i think im going to braid these black :)

The voodoo cooler is huge! i read its size but seeing it in person is another matter!

img3240copy.jpg

AH its all boxes baby! the cooler is still big but i was fooled by the box :p

img3241copy.jpg

Ok something a little confusing, they claim it wont suffer from any vibration noise due to the fans being mounted on
anti vibration fixings (the yellow studs) but they in turn are being held by plastic clips on the body of the cooler?
we will see!

Im impressed with the fin density, im quietly confidant that this may do the job with the 3770k?

Again im impressed with the heat pipe layout and the fact its direct contact but surely it would have made sense to make
a copper base like the one on the h100 rather than leave gaps?

Overall i like what i see, i will stick with the voodoo and if it doesnt cool the 3770k sufficantly then i will send it back or
just buy the h80 and sell the cooler if i cant.

Ok slight change of plan.......

im now getting an Nvidia 550TI because its £100 and as i wont be gaming i will save my self £40.

im gonna get the 2600k due to hearing a horror story about IB!!!

on a different note i still am unsure what colour to braid my cables? all black, all white or black and white?

**EDIT** im going to keep the 3770k even after hearing a horror story, at the end of the day im buying a retail so rock on with the 3 year warranty :p

I think all black may be a bit too much black, white would make them stand out pretty nice IMO

maybe black and yellow to match the cooler? :)

I like the sound of that, i will look for yellow when i get in :) the board has gold on it so yellow would work well :)

I'm thinking of getting a 3770K for my ITX system. What horror story for IB?

His chip failed already, it was OC'd to 4.5GHz @ 1.2 something volts, he has an h100 and was still getting temps in the 90's!! so i was worried as i have a venom voodoo.

But i thought it through even if i only get a 4.2GHz clock i dont mind too much, i dont know untill i try! :)

On the plus side the 3770k is on offer this week when i will be buying it :)

the 6850 is better than the 550ti mate :)

You are right but i wont be doing any gaming at all and the 550TI is more than capable at running two monitors £100 vs £150

Ok after some searching i have found a 6850 1GB for £105 inc shipping!!!! looks like i will be getting a 6850 :)

**EDIT** 6870 1GB £119 ! still gonna get the 6850 ;)
