This leaves me wondering... is there any way a manufacturer could re-design the layout of a mini-ITX motherboard so that it can hold 4 sticks of RAM and two graphics cards? Hmmmm... tough...

Yeah. It's called mATX....

I still maintain they should have made this an mATX case. I know they say, 'oh it's for LANs', but I kind of think, how many people at Lans might want a video capture card, or a sound card, or a network card on top of their GPU...

lol, well a m-atx isnt an m-itx, i was thinking that maybe you could shove the cpu in a corner and have two pci-e slots and four ram slots all in line with each other...

its when cases like this are released that i really long for an excuse to build a mini itx server... but alas, i do not have the need, nor the funds... :(

I dont think you will want to power all that + a gtx690 with a 650w psu xD maybe an 850 or a 1000
 
Guys, you do know there are smaller microATX cases right, so you get more slots, more overclockability, and can still fit the same components?

Prehaps some manufacturer could redesign the matx board & put the graphic slot on the outside edge.

Assuming that you meant mini itx, Perhaps, but then it wouldn't fit in most mini itx cases... Unless the slot faces inwards and the card is above the motherboard. But even then the country cooler would be an obstruction... They could probably make a board that takes two single slot cards.
