BitFenix Shinobi XL Review

I improved the temps in my Shinobi (Albeit non-XL) just by using the fan mount on the bottom of the case! Knocked 4-5°c off the majority of components!
I think the front case fan in both non and XL would benefit more if the front panel had either more slots down each side or had a mesh cut out to allow more fresh air to be taken in.

just out of interest - is it not possible to run 4 usb3 ports off 1 usb3 header?

i only ask as i dont think ive seen a motherboard with two internal usb 3 headers :)

@panyan: We are in very close contact with motherboard brands such as Gigabyte for example and in very near future all of them will have at least two internal headers.

@sunlitsix: we discussed internally about the mesh cut and decided not to do it because it breaks the design and make the system more loud.

Yeah I know what you mean, but like I said placing a 12cm on the bottom intake on my Shinobi knocked 4-5°c off the majority of components anyway so my front intake is purely there for some airflow over the HDDs.

Nice review stulid. Regarding front airflow. Ill probably replace the front 230mm fan with a pair of 120mm silverstone air penetrators. Theese are excellent as intakes/cooler fans due to their focused airflow. Currently have two of the 140mm models as intakes on my lian li. They really helped with gpu cooling.

Would be really interested to get some feeback on your set up when your up and running, especially if your i7 system in sig goes in. Very similar to mine that. :)

hi there

whats your opinion on the mini vents near edge in the front? Are they big / tiny or just right size to provide air support?

It worries me abit :D

They are big enough to let some air flow to the front fan, but I feel there is also some restriction too, I will be updating this review hopefully later in the week/early next week with some extra testing to try and reduce the temps a bit more, saying that the test results need to be taken into context, that I compared it to a case that is known to be a airflow beast.

Oh I agree, the Antec is just a wall of mesh at the front and almost twice the number of fans fitted.

Also the Antec doesnt look like this:cool:

You got that fantastic Corsair keyboard I have - you're a smart man!

Just got mine today and built my rig into it, (will post pics tomorrow). Added a fan to the floor of the case, seeing about 4c difference between my gpu's, 41-37c respectively). May still swap the big front fan for 2x 120mm.
