Noon all,

Rang Akasa yesterday to set up an RMA on a PSU I bought from them a while back off eBay, brand new. Since i've been through an RMA already with the exact same power supply using my Paypal receipt I though this one would go smoothly too. I rang them yesterday and he said he'd e-mail me the RMA address for them as I needed to provide POP, which I again did.

Now i've recived this e-mail:

Hi Pat,

I’m afraid since we last time replaced the PSU for you the situation has changed singinficantly.

As the ebay shop “itpartstoreuk” has been selling goods stolen during burglary to our warehouse we no longer honor the warranty on the goods bought from this particular retailer and we have already notified police about the dealings of this shop.

Since the power supply has been bought less than a year ago please contact the retailer regarding their RMA policy.

Sorry for the unfavorable reply.

Regards,

Jerry

Absolutely no idea on what to do now, they won't honor the RMA as the place I bought it off has apparently stolen from their warehouse. The thing is, this isn't my fault and I would have assumed that legally they would still need to honor it.

So what you want is them to warranty a product that they never sold? OK............

Samsung did something similar to this with a failed harddrive bought from another online store. Apparently the store had been selling grey market imports so Samsung refused to touch it, even though at the end of the day the only person at a disadvantage throughout the whole thing was me, the customer (how am I supposed to know it was imported by the store?)

Luckily the store in question replaced it with no problems, fingers crossed you have a positive outcome, but based on the facts so far it's not looking great.

Yeah but its not their fault either, your issue is with the thieving sod who sold it to you, though if I'd had a PSU need RMA'ing twice I'd cut my losses and buy a better brand.

Can't even find the seller on eBay anymore, **** sake.

Will try through PayPal once I get home from work. But how was I supposed to know that it was stolen? If I had knew that then I wouldn't have bought it. I always try to take care when buying off eBay, thoroughly checking feedback and seeing if it's a legitimate seller/business.

Fml...

Since they have already replaced it once, I'd expect them to replace it again. Not to mention, can they prove that your power supply was stolen from the warehouse? I doubt they can revoke the warranty on all of their products that he has sold, just the stolen ones.

Legally (assuming it is actually stolen) they can just take it back off you and you end up with nothing.

Just be glad you're left with a nice paper weight now. And cables of course :)

Next time maybe a more reputable retailer will be worth the extra few quid?

Thanks for the replies people. What should I write down as a response though? Something along the lines of 'you've already replaced the one I bought from there so you're legally obliged to replace this one?'

No, if it is stolen, you don't have any right for a replacement, you just got lucky that they didn't notice it the first time. However, you could ask them if they can prove that your particular power supply was stolen. If it isn't, they should replace it. If it is, you need to get on to ebay or paypal about getting your money back from the seller. It shouldn't matter how long ago you bought it, since the seller has deceived you. Failing that, you may have to go to the small claims court.

Doubt they have any legal obligiation.

I would just kick up a fuss about how it;s broken twice and that is very poor show considering they are meant to be a decent brand.
And a little bit of fuss about how it's already been replaced, so this psu is not stolen or anything else.

Just try your luck, you may get lucky, you may not.

Though Akasa were meant to be a good, reputable brand. Honestly, i've got RMA's coming out of my ears at the moment. Trying to RMA my BFG 295 with the gormless U.S staff and now this.
