Black Mesa 1.0 coming to Steam March 5th!

I played it in 2012 (it was only up to Xen level) and think it was great, it has been revamped again since then when it was added as a standalone game (before you used your own bought any HL2 (I AFAIR) series to play it and then revamped via official source engine update and Xen levels onwards added.

It is very good, very polished and the updated GFX settings in the final seem nice too. Really like the light/shadow combination.

Also, hah at some of the advanced GFX options you can turn on.

All settings except one stick for me. The selected option above does not stick on Ludicrous but instead the next one down "Ridiculous". All other settings seem to stick for me on an RTX 2070S

I am going by that warning and some comment on the Steam forum it will suck up VRam once that setting sticks.

The game (the Source Engine in general) is also dependant on strong single threaded performance so will be good on a highly clocked Intel will help.

If you get a problem with your key bindings not mapping correctly it's a bug with the new GUI.

Example: Only the left hand side shift and alt keys work.

Just launch the game via the old GUI and configure your key bindings from there instead.
(There is an .bat file in the root of the game directory).

Once done you can go back to using the new GUI again.

Apex legends also uses the source engine and run great on amd, you know that only a 9900k at 5.0ghz is ever so slightly faster than amd at single threaded now? And that's only at 1080p

Also is the game any good, might pick it up

With the above settings I was seeing 130+ fps so I cannot imagine how that one setting on ludicrous would tax much VRAM at all. For comparison GTA5 doesn't even use all of my VRAM with mostly Ultra settings and draw distance at maximum! Neither does Metro Exodus on the Extreme setting with ray tracing enabled etc.

I only have a 6700K at 4.4GHz but seem zero issues.

Game is amazing though. Still can't get over the real-time shadows cast by anything you shine your light at.
