Black Mesa 1.0 coming to Steam March 5th!

I’ve been away from gaming for a few years and away from PC gaming for about 10 so had no clue about black Mesa despite playing half life way too much when it was first out.

Picked this up last night (thanks to this t he was) and for the first time in about 3 years I played a game for more than 4 hours straight.

I am very glad I decided to go overboard with the specs on my new “photo editing” desktop....

Just completed the Zen level and it was an real eye candy feast, they just did a awesome job remaking this level.

[EDIT] Completed it start to finish in about 20hrs.

Started yesterday. Getting easy 60 fps (v-syncd) at 1080p with everything cranked up to the max on an rx480. Must be using 5 year old graphics i guess still.

The widescreen is terrible as it stretches as the sides and thats with normal widescreen 16:9. Normally the sides only get stretched with ultrawide screens.

There is a FOV setting have you tried altering it to get less distortion?

Yeah that helps me on UW.

I am going to wait on 1.5 as if you update now you loose your SAVES (the way this version of Source Engine works) and a few fixes and then play it from start to finish instead of just from Xen.

I have tried it all the way up and all the way down, it makes very little difference.

Yeah that helps me on UW.

I cannot run the game in any ultrawide resolutions, as the distortion is far to noticeable.

Also with the brightness, up is "down" and down is "up"...... I couldn't figure why it was so dark when the brightness was at the maximum, but then I turned the brightness down for some reason and bingo it got brighter...

I thought it only reset the chapter you are currently on? Still annoying though.

Yeah if you've already completed the game, you can start from any chapter.

Its a cracking game, once ive got Dishonored 2 finished off, im going to go back through it again.

I went through this over the weekend and smashed it in 2 5hour sittings or so.

Loved every minute! Took me right back

Highly recommend this to anyone that lieks FPS games in general, not just Half Life. They've done a fantastic job and it's got an ace soundtrack too.
