Same thing happened to me. I think they stepped on the loose office wall things and the physics went mad. I reloaded because I feel bad if they die :o
 
Just played through to the soldiers, and have to say im a little bit underwhelmed. No doubt its a fantastic achievement, and i take my hat off to the guys who made it, but i cant help feel its had its time. :(
 
For me there's a lot to learn here, They don't make them like this any more and I dont know why not

If this doesn't inspire HL3 from the reaction its got so far nothing will
 
I seem to have missed the shotgun somewhere, hopefully i can still get one at some point. Just got to the bit where you go up a lift to the surface and there are loads of soldiers and missiles being fired at me and have no idea what to do. I cant remember this bit from when i first played it.
 
I think I'm most amazed that it still feels so good even today. Sure a few of the mechanics feel a little odd now (grenades having their own slot, weird jump crouching) but the levels are still excellent and the enemy variation is great, the first time you come up against the soldiers is still brilliant.

Anyway I'm up to Blast Pit, just reached the three armed pokey monster so I'm going to take a break there :p

Anyway there is a bunker in the middle, just run like **** :D
 
I like the differences, I was panicking thinking I'd missed the crowbar, and then the pistol too!

Haven't gone very far yet, recently passed the jumping crates bit. Bossed it first time as a long time TFC player :D

My mate did media technology and his final year project was to do a 3d thingy and it was nowhere near as good as the black mesa train ride. Not to mention the train ride was interactive.

For some reason I thought you had to run around and then stand near them towers so that the missiles they fire at you would destroy the towers. Then just noticed the bunker after 5 mins of doing that :p.

Loving this game so far. Its amazing how good it looks if you look at a video of the original on youtube just after playing the mod.
 
I'm stuck at the Blast Pit - the creature keeps hearing me and insta-killing me. I've gotten to the door that I need to go through but as soon as I start trying to take the wood out blocking the way i'm heard and smashed into little pieces.

Any tips?
 
Throw a grenade at the blocked doors first of all to clear them. Then just keep throwing a grenade away from where you are to distract it. Crouch all the way so they don't hear you walking.

Hardest thing for me was trying to get off the ladders without them noticing me. Seemed a bit hit and miss.

If you run out of grenades just sprint for your life :p.

I threw a grenade into the pit, and while the creature ducked down for a mo, I then shot the planks of wood before stepping back into the safe area (where you first interact with the creature). Then, as mentioned by someone else, I used grenades to keep it at bay as I scaled down the ladders towards the exit.
 
I've been playing solid for a few hours! I'm currently at Questionable Ethics and wow these labs look great. Love the detail and atmosphere.

Had to get past that damn water creature though, somehow managed it without too much panic then found there was a pool with two in! I guess it wasn't important as I managed to get past the chapter without ever going in it although it seemed really deep.. Was there secrets down there?
