Black Ops worth it?

NO do NOT buy it... I loved MW2 but BO ruined it for me, was weeks before I could get back into COD4 and MW2 (which are vastly better games).

Black Ops is far to bug ridden, horrific performance issues, poor netcode, rubbish weapons - just moving and aiming/shooting feels horrid lacks the fluid feel of COD4/MW2, theres some good ideas (i.e. being able to hack equipment) but drowned out by the rest...

Not sure why people are suggesting Battlefield as an alternative, its a different kind of game...

Only thing I miss from BO is the M14, MW2 doesn't really have a weapon quite like it, has a bit more punch than the FAL, etc. but lower rate of fire, without the clumsiness of a sniper rifle.

MW2 I personally think is one of the best games of it type ever made not as good as COD4 but not far behind as Special Ops mode is genius & worth the price alone so much gameplay/stress/fun :D

Black Ops is just a QTE heavy game which lets you run from A to B shoot a bit then complete another QTE & is a very poor gaming experience especially compared to COD4/MW2 its shockingly bad :eek: Console gamers love it as their standards are low & anything with the name COD will sell millions of copies tragically for the entire game industry..........

If you must buy this as the reviews has suckered you in then you have no choice but to pay full price as Activision do not believe in selling COD games at a discount until they are at least 2 years old :rolleyes:
 
It's seems to be cool to say "Black Ops and COD games are carp" I and many of my work mates have a blast, It's a nice simple arcade FPS game that's extremely fun to play :)

I agree, it does its job for me as being a quick to get into FPS. If I'm feeling like giving more time to a game I'll play BC2.
 
I gave up on it shortly after release, very buggy. Nothing but jerkiness throughout each round. Didnt play it for a few months, but i tried it again a few days ago and it ran fine. Its gonna take me a while to get back into the feel of a cod game, been playing bfbc2 so much lately, two very different games.

It'll never be a fiver as the newer COD games don't seem to depreciate in value that much due to artificially high pricing.

I'd personally say buy it if you have a decent PC. Personally I've only had one problem with this which was a sound issue which I solved after about 10 minutes of messing around. Gameplay wise its fast and fun but quite a lot different to MW2s multiplayer, especially on hardcore. You don't see that many snipers on this, nor noob tubers etc and the amount of variation in the weapons that people use is just massive. It's vastly more balanced than MW2 from a weapon point of view but the killstreaks can be extremely annoying on this though. Example being the remote control bomb cars and the helicopters which you need ghost pro to avoid lol.

Zombie mode is great fun though, alongside the actual proper multiplayer!
 
I have a lot of thoughts on Black Ops, some good, some not so good, the lack of control is what annoys me most, as one reviewer said, here's an idea: Make a flipping (not the actual word he used) movie and get it out of your system and then come back to making games when you're going to give even the illusion of control to gamers, but I think it is best summarised here:

Personally, I do think that Black Ops is one of the best shooters around.. Whilst I wouldn't get it for the ridiculous prices as when it was first introduced, I wouldn't mind giving it a go for like £20..
 
I bought it on release and I have put a few hours into the MP and completed the SP I have to say that MW2 is a far better game, further more MW1 is even better. I find the weapons in BO to be rather boring and I don't rate the maps too well either.
 
the cod MW/Blackops series is VERY simple.

Cod4 is the BEST one

MW2 is exactly the same but not as good, same recycled with p2p servers lool

and black ops sucks REALLY bad, has bad performance issues with some top rigs even + the gameplay is exactly the same as MW2.
