Seriously? I'd rather have some backwards compatibility than none at all. Admittedly it is annoying that there are a lot of my favourite Xbox games which don't work on the 360, it's still nice to pop games like PES5 in the 360 without having to hook up the Xbox seperately.

What he said :)

screw the RGB cable. Get yourself a component cable (if you have an HD tv)

I've got one, but 28" CRT blur-o-vision helps smooth out 480i compared to on a 1920p capable screen ;)

I said that because some people will have unwittingly sold their Xbox when they get a 360, under the misconception that they will be able to play their Xbox games on it. I understand that even a large number of those games on the compatibility list don't actually work properly. I know some people who only have a 360, have bought Xbox games on the basis of them being on the list as 'working' when in fact they don't work properly.

And of course a huge amount of popular games aren't on the list at all, and who knows whether they ever will be. I feel they have misrepresented their product and its capabilities, which is disappointing. A lot of people aren't as savvy as people who post on forums like this, and are surprised when they go out and buy a new Xbox game (like Black) and find it doesn't work on their 360. MS should have made it clearer how limited the BC function is.

First of all the emulation on the 360 will be updated via live and for people that dont use live it wouldnt suprise me if microsoft release some kind of service pack for the 360

The PS2 after all still to this day cant play "all" PS1 games

I need to swap cables around to play hold xbox 1 games as its moans they dont work in the rez :|, so no bc for me :)

Is this just 'another' fps game or does it bring something new to the table?

Apparently it has the most realistic explosions ever seen in a video or computer game for a start.. it doesn't sound like the gameplay breaks any new ground though particularly. That doesn't mean I don't wanna get it though :)

This game fails so hard. You fight over boring looking levels, fighting the same two or 3 enemy models who don't say or do anything interesting. The fact that pretty much *everything* explodes gets old after about 2 mins, clearly designed for people with ADD, where SOMETHING MUST EXPLODE EVERY 2 SECONDS OR I WILL LOSE INTEREST!

I'm sure it'll sell well though, another 'success' for criterion and EA =/

I disagree to be honest. You could say the same about Call of Duty 2. A few models with dodgy AI routines but the fun comes in killing them, and thats where Black shines. In fact its similar to COD in many ways and its actually less linear on some maps.

Some of the explosions are stunning - when you use the RPGs on level 3 and whole building collapses with great animation for example.

Its certainly not a brain teaser, but then neither is COD2, but it really is great fun.

I've become bored of FPS games as of late but Black is actually pretty fun and looks really good for an Xbox game, the framerate is very solid as well. My only gripes are the fact you cant run or jump, In level 2 in the forest you'll come across small fences & tree stumps which would be very easy to jump over but you cant..so you're forced to walk around them. Also the lighting effects are kind of half assed, for example you can shoot out lights but it doesnt make the area any darker, the pre-rendered lighting still remains after they're shot out... but these are minor complaints , The most important part is I've been having fun playing it.

Ahh, sounds like just another fps then :)

I completed it last night on Normal mode. Wow. I can say that the final battle (if you can call it that) is quite hard and took me quite some time. The last level took me just over an hour of solid gaming. It's an amazing game. I did encounter a few instances of AI stupidity along my travels. Can't believe that there isn't multiplayer and that you can't jump. But apart from that it's a brilliant game and I reccomend it to anyone. All I can say is that the game is a bit short and ends abruptly and that there will definately be a sequel.

One thing that annoys me with games is annoyin bits you cant skip....

intro seemed to take forever before I could actually get to playing, then I realised that was the intro to get to the title screen.:(

Cutscene after cut scene I eventually managed to get into game and playing...

The game does indeed look rather nice, PS2 can still cut it ;)
Slightly dubious effect is the reload blur, yeah you aint gonna be lookin miles ahead, but surely it shouldnt look as if everything bar the gun is underwater.

Im not a big fan of FPS games on consoles, in fact the only ones Ive played recently are timesplitters 2 and future perfect on multiplayer. These seemed to just work, they looked good, had a controlset that didnt seem crowbar'ed into the game and in multiplayer :D Lets the flaming monkeys loose !

I started playin it on PS2 yesterday and it seems to have the magic that goldeneye (N64) did. There have been a coupla bits that could have been lifted straight outta goldeneye really. I do think a map would bring a lot to this game, find all the extra missions bits, yeah fine, better if you could see where you've already been tho.

Controls work rather nicely altho I still find myself tryin to jump :GRR:
You come across small walls that you could easily jump.... nope 200m's round the side please :(

There also seems to be a lot of "no no" areas in the game where you just come up against an invisible wall. This has happened a few times to me so far especially when trying to get into towers to snipe everyone. Shame really as it breaks up the gameplay a little

Im loving the effects on the huge explosions too, the farmhouse was a light with mayhem, that was my fave level so far.

I've not really played that far into the game as of yet, but from what I have seen it's a very promising game, definatley a mistake leavin out multiplayer, is this on any other platforms release? I think this is a huge loss for the game as I can see it shining in multiplayer with a few rule variations, or has the multiplayer been left out for a reason ? Would the engine/console be able to cope with say 4 player splitscreen, or would we have to loose bits to make it possible?

More to come when I've played a bit more ;)

I just tried the Xbox demo of Black and couldn't say I was overly impressed.. and it appears to run at 30fps despite apparently using the same engine as the Burnout games.. meh.

I found it awkward to control personally, but then I've never found FPS games easy on a pad. I'm sure for people who don't have that problem, they will no doubt enjoy it. Just my feedback though, for what it's worth :)

The controls weren't great, and this is coming from someone who can switch between pad and mouse without problem. Just generally I find the game to be very, very boring, not that good looking, and not running fast enough.
