so, 1.2ghz snapdragon (according to some sources), it's got 8gb of onboard storage and the camera is now a 5mp unit with 720p video recording. It's more of a step forward then anything else they've bought out in the last few years. Quite an interesting phone, but it is enough next to the likes of the Galaxy S2 and the rest of the up and coming dual core androids?

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice... I'm due an upgrade towards the end of this year, what are the chances of this appearing by then do you think?

Very good tbh...will be released this yr.

This is the the blackberry device that ive been waiting for and the specs are pretty damn awesome to say the least...its just made its debut at the BB world convention in Florida this week so lots of people over at crackberry are getting mighty excited for its imminent release..me included.

One thing i like is the inclusion of the NFC bit...that looks to be pretty cool judging by the video below that ive posted.

Heres the first impressions of the 9900/9930 Bold touch from BB world from crackberry.

Looks great, loads of people I know will love this.

My only concern, a MSM8255 with only a 1230mAH battery to power it? Talk time could suffer.

That throws another spanner in the works then! I support BB's at work and am glad to see the back of them by the end of the day, so was leaning towards the iPhone 5.

However, given that I've never been a huge fan of touchscreens and I know the BB OS pretty well thanks to work, it kinda makes sense to stick with what I know.

Sadly Orange are usually the last people to adopt new handsets so I might be looking at a Christmas present!

Hard to say but RIM aka Blackberry are well known for their great battery life on their devices so im pretty sure...in fact a guy from RIM who posts on crackberry has stated the battery life of the new 9900/9930 is just as good as the 9780 due to the radio stack optimisations etc etc.

Wont really know till they are officially released and crackberry gets their hands on one for a full review.

Cannot wait for this device to hit the market...probably the most eagerly anticipated BB device for a long time...this will make a great pairing with my playbook as well.

2.8″ capacitive touch screen display

Why even bother at that size?

RIM would be best served making a non touch phone or a fully touch phone. Not baking the two together.

They have and are;)....the storm series was their first fully touch based phones....not that great ill add as i had both of them....they are replacing those with a newer higher specced touch screen phone codenamed monaco i think.

For me its the best of both worlds, the keyboard which just simply rocks on all Bold handsets and the touchscreen which gives you other options to navigate around the menu's etc.

I know they still do both, I live with the cheerleaders in this town. I'll let you guess where that is. :p

I just don't like reaching down to a keyboard then reaching up to a puny little screen. Do one thing and do it right. :)

Which some people wont like which is to be expected...they are catering for just about every taste...full touchscreen for the touchscreen people...touchscreen with a sliding keyboard...a touchscreen with a keyboard and then the bread and butter phones of the BB range ie the non touch based phones....always nice to have a choice unlike Apple or Android who dont have that much of a range.

Oh i know where you are...Waterloo where RIM is based:p....perhaps if it bothers you that much, you might want to move out of the area where the BB cheerleaders are:p

I'm only in the town until the end of July as placement. I didn't actually know RIM lived here until I made it out, oh dear. :p

I think it's a great idea - keyboard and touchpad for general typing & navigation, then a touchscreen for web use.

I'm finding the 3.5" on the iPhone too small now. Gonna be an awful lot of panning and zooming on that BB.

Yep that could be an issue but then i use a BB Bold 9780 and browse web pages so i dont see it being an issue...i use my iphone4 far more for web browsing though as its a bigger screen and is easier to navigate.
