The Venky's Group, owners of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, has today confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald with immediate effect.

First team coaching duties will be taken on by Steve Kean (currently 1st team coach) for the immediate future.

We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club. We would like to put on record our thanks to Mr. Allardyce for his contribution to Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

Shouldn't have shot your mouth off so often....

Didn't see that coming but it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Can't wait to see him in the press begging for every job that becomes available again.

This is getting stupid

Too many teams chop and change management on a whim

Feel for the players - but I hope the team gets relegated

Owners Venkys say it's part of their "wider plans and ambitions for the club".

lol big Sam! :D

Blackburn announced they have sacked manager Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce was relieved of his duties along with his assistant Neil McDonald by the club's new owners, the Venky's Group from India.

Blackburn have lost three out of their last five matches, including a 2-1 defeat by former club Bolton on Sunday.

"We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club," Rovers said in a statement on their website on Monday.

Rovers are currently 13th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone.

Current first-team coach Steve Kean will take temporary charge of the club.

Teams don't stick long enough with managers and expect instant results from their new ones.

haha couldn't of happened to a nicer guy.

I bet he's fired of his C.V. to Real / Inter / Barca already :p

Some stuff on SSN website...

There had been rumours about Allardyce'sposition after The Venky's Group, Blackburn's owners, recently completed a takeover of the club.

It was reported that the ex-Bolton and Newcastle boss was unhappy that large sums of money would not be made available for transfers in January.

From Big Sam via the LMA

“I am very shocked and disappointed to be leaving Blackburn Rovers. I am extremely proud to have managed this club and I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the players, my staff and the supporters during my time in charge. I now wish them and the football club every success for the future”.

Might not have many fans, but the guy was a perfect glove fit for the club, as he was at bolton.

Im sure the blackburn fans on this forum know it well, the club is what it is. Not the greatest fanbase, they've struggled for years to get the crowds into the ground, and they've done remarkable well to remain in the top flight with a steady crop of next to nobodys being marshalled by some decent football managers.

Hope it works out, but i fear these guys don't have a clue, unless there's a huge investment coming, it'll be a massive mistake losing Sam... blackburn trying to punch above their weight, with the current players and make up of the club, it can only end in doom as it's cost them before..

Conversely, I think Blackburn will do well with a different manager. There's some decent players at the club and I think they're capable of far more than Allardyce had achieved in his time there.
