Blackwell sacked

Be careful what you chant for?

Who has chanted for Wise?

I can't believe anyone would choose him over Curbishley. Not even if you were the little bug-eyed gimp's best mate.

I forgot about him and now I'd put him in the hotseat.

Maybe thats one of the reason's why they booted Blackwell out now due to Curbishley being linked with other clubs this past few days and it would be devastating to let him slip away.

Denise Wise....That's got to be a joke?

Doesn't look like it to me I wouldn't be surprised to see him become the new manager within the next few days  If he gets the job of course I'll want him to do well but that won't mean I'll think he's any less of a ****

I meant the fans chanting for Blackwell to be sacked. I'm a Leeds fan by the way.

Only four bookies left taking bets. Might be wrong of course (hope I am!), but there are other growing rumours on Leeds message boards.

Blackwell needed to go, and if it were down to me he'd have gone at the end of last season. We scraped into the playoffs and beat a poor Preston side to meet Watford and went into the game **** scared of them instead of intending to beat them. He's far too defensive, even though he's brought in great attacking players. Towards the end of last season we had Cresswell, Healy, Hulse and Blake. Easily the best attacking quartet in the division.

We were playing 1-up. That says it all.

I ****ing hate Wise and I'd hate to see him come to our club, but a change is as good as a rest and even him coming in would be better than Blackie staying on IMO.

Curbs would be amazing though, I would start to feel good about football again if he was brought in. Football is a funny mistress and we've kinda had a fall-out of late.

How the hell would Denise Wise motivate anyone. The little twerp is far from being the man for Leeds and it shocks me to see he is the big favourite.

Leeds need to mover forward and there is no way that will happen with that clown.

How can Leeds ignore Curbishley is beyond me.

I wouldnt really disagree. Never really thought Blackwell was all that great, although he had a hard job for sure. I think he's actually built a decent team and is probably a good coach, but he doesnt seem to be tactically aware, cant motivate players on a matchday and doesnt know how to change a gameplan if its going wrong.

Wouldnt always say that a change is as good as a rest though. O'Leary for Venables didnt work out, and then Peter Reid wasnt the answer. Problem with Wise is that he will be given no time by the Leeds fans. Unless he gets off to a winning run the crowd will be on his back within weeks, and thats bad for the team.

I cant get too excited about it these days though. What happens happens. We have a good enough squad to be in the playoffs but it wouldnt surprise me if we end up in a relegation fight......after all we had a good enough squad to be in the top 6 of the premiership yet found ourselves in the Championship.

There's two glaring holes in that post. The fact that you seem to think O'Leary should have stayed, and the fact that you think the squad we were relegated with was good enough for top six. Both, IMO, are well wide of the mark.

Who says they are ignoring him? Why would he want to come to Leeds - a club with no money, a chairman like bates, with fickle overoptimistic fans? He's still hot property in football. All he has to do is bide his time for a few Premiership Managers to get sacked (Allardyce anyone?!) and the job offers will flood in.

We are not a big club anymore. We are not an attractive club to come to.

I still hope he ignores the above and signs though haha.

As I said previously he's not ruled out a return to the Championship but he turned down WBA who look good prospects for a return to the Prem. Why would he do that and still say that the Champ wasn't out of bounds for him if he didn't fancy one of the other clubs? Which clubs are a better proposition than WBA?

Other than the current playing staff (and they're not that dissimilar though the Leeds playing staff is very demotivated and off form) Leeds are a much better proposition IMO.

I'd bet good money that that squad with O'Leary in charge would not have been relegated. Remember he got the sack after finishing 5th in the Premiership. The team relegated 2 seasons later still had the core of that squad.

IIRC Leeds were 14th and sliding when O'Leary was sacked. He'd completely lost the dressing room.

He'd lost the dressing room though, that can't be argued. His book was also very bad timing.

WillHill has Curbs as favourite for the job, followed by Hoddle :/

CURBISHLEY ODDS-ON FAVOURITE FOR LEEDS JOB......William Hill have installed Alan Curbishley as 5/6 favourite to succeed Kevin Blackwell as the next permanent manager of Leeds United. Hills make Glenn Hoddle 13/2 second favourite and also offer 7/1 Dennis Wise; 8/1 Claudio Ranieri; 10/1 John Carver; 12/1 Micky Adams; Gary McAllister; Mike Newell; 33/1 David O'Leary; Bryan Robson; 50/1 Eddie Gray; Dave Penney; Peter Reid; Gordon Strachan; Paul Sturrock.
LEEDS are currently quoted at 7/1 by William Hill to be promoted; 40/1 to win the title, and 14/1to be relegated.
The Guardian has Curbs and Wise as front runners for it.

The Telegraph reckons Ranieri is a surefire bet

The Sun is tipping Wise

C'MON CURBS!

I can see things happening under Curbs, we will play two up front might get somebody to cross the ball from wide.

Abit off topic but how long until Cresswell is back ?
He is an excellent player who gives it his all and goes for headers.. :p

What about Strachan ? :)

Alan Curbishley 2.05 Claudio Raineri 3.65 Dennis Wise 5.52 Lawrie Sanchez 12.50 John Carver 14.50 Micky Adams 14.50 Gary McAllister 14.50 Mike Newell 18.50 Alex McLeish 19.00 David O´Leary 31.00 Gianluca Vialli 32.00 Bryan Robson 41.50 Paul Sturrock 42.00 Glen Hoddle 51.00 Ron Atkinson 52.00 Peter Reid 52.00 Gordon Strachan 52.00 Michael Laudrup 78.00 Sven Göran Eriksson 78.00

Cresswell is back in October sometime, I'm waiting on his return also...

Doubt Strachan could be prised away from Celtic/Champions league tbh, but he would have been a good candidate.

I'm not sure Curbs would come, there could be opportunities in the prem league soon, ie Man City or Bolton.

I can't think of too many managers besidw Curbs I'd fancy at Leeds, maybe Cotterill from Burnley.
