Blade Runner sequel planned

Well, it depends....arguably

Terminator 2 was better than The Terminator.
The Godfather Part 2 was better than The Godfather Part 1.
Toy Story 2 was better than Toy Story.
Aliens was better than Alien.

Statistically though, its not looking good lol

But I do seen a common theme...Get James Cameron to direct the sequel. It worked for Terminator 2 and Aliens! The man knows how to make a sequel.

But all of those were planned sequels that were released not long after the originals :(

:(

I still get chills everything I think of this scene:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All these moments will be lost in time... like tears in the rain... Time to die.

Trouble with a Blade Runner sequel is that although it has a fantastic setting and all, you can't really do anything but have another plot involving some Replicants that need retiring... same old story.

The Blade Runner game they made some years ago was actually really good, because it took the world and it's ideas and expanded them further. However you were still playing a Blade Runner doing basically the same thing that Deckard did in the film.

So really what is there they can do?
Aside from a direct sequel looking at them hunting down Deckard and Rachel perhaps?

Ridley is the only guy for the job really - it's his baby. I mean, I still believe the guy could do it again with the right script. He did an excellent job putting together the Final Cut. In fact, he's already returning to sci-fi with that new alien movie (which was originally supposed to be a prequel to alien and is now something else) so the timing couldn't be better.

I'm just watching the original on the tv, not even sure which "cut" as I don't recall watching a version with Deckard narrating in it.

Anyway, my point was going to be...Blade Runner is set 8 years from now

Am I the only person who's excited about a BR sequel?

We pick up with Deckard and Rachael on the run. By this point they've both realised that they're replicants and must find a way to avoid retirement. They're guided on their journey by Tyrell's wisecracking owl replicant (voiced by Eddie Murphy). Eventually, their love for one another makes them into real life boys and girls.

The end.

I think that's the version the studio wanted released. The narration makes it easier to follow, apparently.

IMO, the director's cut is better/one of the director's cuts is better.

Maybe if they included more plots from the book in it could "work"

But they won't and I'll hate it and they will sully what is arguably the greatest film ever.

Plus Ruitger Hauer won't be in it so instant-lose there. Unless they do get him in it, then I'll like it regardless. *man crush*
