Blocking YouTube channels ?

Yea and the turtles look super derpy.

Pikachu is in Turtles now ?!?!?!

The golden age of cartoons died back in the mid-late 90's. 80's to 90's was the best time.

I hate to give a giant list, but just the few examples here are just awesome, Ulysses 31 and Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Carebears, Trapdoor, Galaxies Rangers, Dungeons & Dragons, Action Force, Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds, Ducktails

I think the lack of decent cartoons for kids these days is partially why they kids are so screwed up today.

More innocent times, when kids shows weren't just attempts to make them buy things interspersed with ads that some sneaky algorithm tied to what they were watching.

Happy days.

He-man was made solely to sell toys (as were other shows) targeting easily dooped kids to pester their parents to buy them just as channels do now, it was certainly not innocent. That's not to say things aren't worse now because they certainly are. You could turn the TV off and it ended their but now it goes with you where ever you are and keeps feeding you even more.

It's funny how some people think all parents are rotten. It's also funny how you never hear of the good parents that are simply getting on with bringing up their children.

You think I think all parents are rotten? I don't. But I do think there is more and more pressure on parents in recent times and this causes some parents to simply not be able to raise children properly.

I have about 25 mates including my own bro&sis who are happily married and are absolutely brilliant parents to their children. And that number is increasing loads of my good mates and good acquaintances are getting married and starting families every year. So I do hear about great parents.

I just think sending kids off to watch YouTube on their own or letting social media raise children, is bad. Doesn't mean I think all parents are rotten, many parents do amazing and extremely difficult jobs, and some do utterly horrendous jobs at raising their kids.

WTF is that monstrosity?! TMNT were one of my favs as a kid. But now we have sexy red short shorts, bucked teeth, weird sexy sultry looks and poses with hips thrusted out, token minority substitution for diversity and some weird pokemon pet. Oi vey.

Yeah boiii.

I've not experienced a wave of nostalgia that strong in years, wow, just wow.

I can totally get where OP is coming from with the crap on youtube though. There's so many vloggers/influencers etc. creating these mad vids with high value prizes, super expensive gifts etc. just to get views. People like Mr Beast giving away 100K for stupid competitions with his mates or giving 20K to a dozen pizza delivery drivers.

If I had kids I'd definitely want some kind of whitelist service for youtube. Perhaps there's a third party site that uses the YouTube API that could do this. It would be a great service for parents. Block the official site, whitelist this 3rd party site. Charge parents £10 a month or whatever, they can whitelist that site and give their kids free range to YouTubeForParents.com, safe in the knowledge that it's only channels that they have pre approved.

Although those three cartoons you listed basically existed to sell toys...

Whooshes for the pair of you. Do you really think I posted three of the biggest toy franchises ever by coincidence? :D

Omg. Where's Thundercats? Dude, I can't even with you.
Thundercats no longer politically correct because of Leono using the term 'Ho' all the time.

I used to watch TMNT when April was white.
Megan Fox has always been White, hasn't she? :p

Thanks - already a member. ;)

No. But if I did I would spend time with them, instead of telling them to go to the corner and watch their stupid apps alone.
Why is it that people see a 5 second window into someone's life, and then declare them a bad parent? I mean, if that snapshot was the OP talking about best cattleprod voltage to use on five year olds, fine. (Although...). But the kids are allowed to watch curated videos on YouTube? The horror! Call Child Services now!

Cartoons has been downgraded? They look so square... The one in the left video thumbnail looks pretty cool. Though, I've no idea when that was.
Funny how awesome cartoon themes were back then.

Never mind what colour she is - doesn't really make a difference - I remember when she was supposed to be pretty! That's a child and an ugly one at that!

"Decades later, this tune is still bangin!"
Wow! For 2mins and 3 seconds, I am a tiny child again. I remember running around the house singing that song all the time. :D:D:D:D

The other one I remember the theme to was this, though I don't think I actually watched it. I just liked the "na-na-na-nahh-nah-nah-naaaaaah!" bit.

Who's life in particular?

I'm not talking about anyone's life.

I'm talking about the FACT that many people these days have no time to raise children, and have to resort to social media raising their children.

Also, aren't you basically calling yourself a hypocrite? In the other thread you're banging on about how Mo marrying a child 2000 years ago somehow magically gives you insight into 1 billion muslim's lives today. lol. And I'm not even singling anyone or any group out.

Also it is a FACT that YTK has dangerous videos on it. This has got nothing to do with anyone's life lol.

Just because you selectively bury your head in the sand, doesn't mean kids across the country aren't being raised by social media. Heck there are children committing suicide because social media has raised them, there was this one girl who killed herself because she thought she wasn't as pretty as fake instagram models.

But yeah lets just ignore this problem because it's Asim18 who's raising the awareness of the curse of social media.

No. I'm not. That's your freakish strawman and should stay in its thread.

My strawman or your strawman? Mo's sexual preference isn't my preoccupation, its yours.

But fine let it stay in that thread.

Who's life have I got a 5 second window into, and what's that got to do with social media causing mental illness in children?

As @asim18 says YT kids app is pretty dire. I'd much rather just talk to my daughter about what she's watching, check history if I feel I need to (never have) etc. I've also got her a NowTV account with only the kids package on it so she spends most of her time watching decent cartoons rather than looking for then in 4 mins snippets on youtube.

Absolutely.

A decent professionally written and produced children's show will always have a moral to the story.

On the other hand YTK app with some dodgy uploaders will have a mickey mouse impostor gouging someone's eyeballs out or setting fire to the house or some other anarchic and pointless crap. Or endless "toy reviews" lol.

People don't even know what Parental Guidance when watching TV is anymore.

Just send them off with their tablets or whatnot and let them play on youtube while daddy goes gets drunk or whatnot.
Are you making this up or do you have any parenting experience or whatnot.

Hahaha, you make ma laugh, over and over. Keep your postin' sweetheart, you're a joy to behold :D

You did mention advert algorithms implying YouTube content. If you have a source for algorithms being used in the 80s I will give you the benefit of the doubt :p

What on earth?

Me being a parent or not, has got nothing to do with people who let social media raise their children. LOL

Are you saying that if I was a parent and had parenting experience, that less children would be glued to "apps"? Because that is incorrect.

Yeah, don't need to be a parent to figure out how toxic social media is.... bad enough for adults.
