Blow your mind with extra dimensions

Thinking in 4 dimensions is hard enough (try to imagine two planes intersecting at a single point) never mind anything higher.

Yes welcome to last year, we al live on stretched things called membranes and our whole universe is within one membrane. there are millions of these membranes and when two of them happen to collide we get the big bang.

At the Eels gig i was at a few weeks ago they played a documentary called "parallel worlds, parallel lives" about E's dad, Hugh, who was a quantum physicist and came up with all these mad theories of different universes and stuff on the basic theory of if an atom can be in two places at once, and we are made up of atoms then theoretically we can also be in two places at once. It was pretty boggling.

They play Prodigy tracks on Hollyoaks?

Oh was it Eels with Strings?

I went last year too it - was a bit special! Eels are my favourite band!

T'was an evening with Eels.

Although it was actually more like an evening with E and Chet, as they were the only two there haha. Awesome concert though.

If you watch the video in the link that explains the theory behind 10 dimesions, you'll see what I mean. It's explained very clearly and very concisely.

OT: I also think this is very well done, if a little cheesy::p

Nice one. I was looking for that video a while ago. LOL at the 'What The Bleep Do We Know' poster in the background.

I'm not sure how that ties in with 10 dimensions really though. :confused:

Although I am 100 per cent committed to the ideas I have created for this project, and the way that it uses current mainstream thinking about the nature of our reality as its jumping off point, I feel it is important to note that the "framework for discussion" that I advance on this website and in the book "Imagining the Tenth Dimension" is not what you would currently be taught in a university physics class. Anyone wanting to know more about the currently established thinking behind physics and cosmology should refer to such excellent books as "Programming the Universe" by Seth Lloyd, "Parallel Worlds" by Michio Kaku, "The Fabric of the Cosmos" by Brian Greene, or "Warped Passages" by Lisa Randall. Other books that strongly connect to the ideas around this project are "I Am a Strange Loop" by Douglas Hofstadter, "This is Your Brain on Music" by Daniel J. Levitin, "Linked" by Albert-Laszlo Barabasi, "Quantum Enigma" by Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner, and "Everything Forever" by Gevin Giorbran.

Thought that was worth highlighting. While his ideas are very clever and well explained, it's probably not very representative of what is currently accepted by the scientific community in general.

'course we are in 3d.

X=sideways(left/right)
Y=upward/downwards
Z=forwards/backwards

The other dimensions are not just spatial, your senses are also dimensions.

Who is to say the dimensions after the 3rd are all only time related. Theories... such great things, based on light science and the rest mostly imagination.. It is like me saying if you eat 30 big macs in one 15 minute sitting you shall enter a magical place where the sun always shines and everyday a genie pops out from your gut and gives you three wishes!

Theories don't impress me.. I wanna see some proof please! I saw the Horizon program 'Are we alone' and the Stephen Hawkings 2 part programme.. Instead of interesting me they just made me feel quite bored! Another particle accelerator being built.. correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't quite a large one been built already with not too ground breaking results?

There's a theory that the universe has been constantly expanding and crunching throughout time. If time was "infinite", as in, it's ALWAYS been around and will ALWAYS be around, doesn't that make the so called 7th dimension void, since it works on a start and finish...? Why I decided to watch that video at 2:30am I don't know though :(

After watching that bit again, I realise that the 8th dimension is based upon different "initial conditions" on each "infinity" (of 7D) so if what I was saying about time always being around being true, would that mean the previous universes would each be considered a 7D, or would they be a totally different thing, because their initial conditions would have been created at a different point in time, cause as I understand it, each 7D starts at the same time, but may possibly have different conditions?

i liked the comparison that we're all fish in a pond that can't see out. hold onto your hats ladies pretty soon they'll be creating mini black holes they hope, and if don't they'll just build a bigger one i guess.
