Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

I had my net installed yesterday (only 512k at the mo) and was told by the engineer that the upgrade would be around the end of the month in the Birmingham Erdington area.
Well it's quite possible that he didn't know what he was talking about or was referring to the upgrades in general starting at the end of the month but I certainly hope he was right, as it would make an excellent Birthday pressie :D

Does anyone here have the pc guard problem? When you are viewing a picture, and click the edit symbol, pc guard stops paint from opening...also the upgrades...I want mine NOW!

Blueyonder has drained enough of my money.

just checked, mine does the same ...grr buggy :(

It does the same when you go to your "my music" folder and click "play selection".

I told blueyonder about this bug but they didn't want to know.

Should I install it anyway? Seeing as it's free then turn if off whenever I'm actually working on my pc? :p

I live near the Bristol Area, no upgrade here.

I remember the last one..they never emailed to let me know there was going to be one, or when I had the upgrade and I didn't know the difference!

But hopefully going from 2mb to 10mb might show a difference.

My internet at the moment is WAY under for a 2mb connection...could this be any sort of sign?

bit crazy if the schedule is right, says 2006 for Telford, even though BY is pretty much based in Telford... from what i'm aware the head offices are based 2-3 minute drive away from my house !

Dang nabbit !

I was on teamspeak with my BF2 clan last night and a friend down the road, and one in London had connection problems. The strange thing was we all had them at the same time and could stilll access the net, just not play any games or use voice comms.

Hilly, I am also in Telford but you're wrong about BY being based here, I think you are getting mixed up with Enta.net's NOC being on Stafford Park. The nearest TW NOC is based on the Waterfront at Merry Hill (Dudley). I think we can reliably say that list isn't running to schedule anyway. On the last two upgrades in Telford (2mb to 3mb then to 4mb) it happened within three weeks of the announcement, I don't see why this one should be any different... let's wait and see ;-)
(Btw, I'm based on The Rock here)... Dean

Well I was looking at the Upcoming maintenance/jobs being carried out on the Blueyonder Website, And network maintenance is being carried out in Bristol from the 20th - 23rd Sept..

So I'm guessing this is upgrading the lines?.. although obviously I maybe wrong here. Here's hoping.! :p

Hi Dean, i'm fully aware of Enta.net's presence, as i work for them ;) Well not entanet directly, but entatech, part of an umbrella company.

BY and Telewest do have offices in Telford, but i guess your right :)

Am based in St Georges for your info :)

The 10Mb config is already out in some areas's, just not officially. Do a config sniff and you will see :)

Well wait till tomorow morning, you'll find out quick enough. :)

Guess Telewest really had there work cut out for them in this round of upgrades, but I don't doubt they'll have it all done way before Jan'06, probably expect some early teething problems unfortunatley.

Out of interest, what are we looking for exactly?

I ran the command:

java -jar docsdiag.jar -vv >results.txt

Should I use a different one?
*shrug* I just run 2kXP-run.cmd.

The main items of interest it lists are:

Code:
QoS max upstream bandwidth = 256000 bps
QoS max downstream bandwidth = 2148000 bps
Configuration filename = cm-2148-256
which basically shows that I'm (still) on 2mbit.
