Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

It seems worst for me as I have already experienced TW 10 mbit in the Midlands when it was tested for the space of a weekend (search for a previous thread of mine before the updates if you dont believe me). So I know what to expect - i just don't like paper launches.

Well we will all be on 50meg by end 2007,well people with Telewest.
But the upload speed will never exceed 3.6 meg,(well that would be good enough)lol

My friend is a tek at croydon and he was showing me the upload info on a pc at the Tonbridge Headend, I do the fibre spliceing for telewest u c, i cover essex, kent and south london.

^^ Exactly. You will only get the 1.25MB/sec odd if you find a very good download site (most cap upto ~250k/s and allow a single connection) or if you're a p2p/newsgroup monkey.
LOL, good luck getting 1.25MB/s on the P2P networks! :D

Usenet is where it's at if you want to make full use of a 10Mb connection, and you'll have to stump up for a decent news provider.

The wait for 10Mb in the midlands is getting on my nerves a bit tbh. This is more from the perspective of others paying £10 less than I am for the same 4Mb service than those who are already on 10Mb for the same price. I'm already over 190GB for December, so although if I had 10Mb I'd have been able to download it all faster, at the end of the day I have enough bandwidth to download everything I want at present and 10Mb wouldn't have resulted in me downloading any more.

You are wrong on so many areas. The fact remains, Telewest are upgrading you free of charge they have no reason to reimburse you at all... They are still way ahead of any other major ISP (excluding you lucky few that happen to be around LLU exchanges) with regards speed and quality of service for the price they offer (they happen to be voted the best ISP by JD Power this year).

Patience is something you are obviously lacking, wait it out and shut up acting a spoilt child.

Thanks for that

You obviously are so grown up, perhaps you would like to compare ADSL prices to TW then decide to not post here as it seems obvious you haven't read any of my posts in this thread.

And guess what pumpkin they aren't upgrading anyone free of charge as if they didn't give us 10 mbit for £35/month most of us would be long gone.

To where? A BT reseller offering you 2Mbit for the same price.. You're a joke.

I would be interested to see who would qualifi for this 24meg, at a guess i would reckon you would receive a letter saying our engineers have been out and you live to far from a BT exchange, but we can offer you 4 meg or 2 meg..
I bet you would have to have the bt exchange at the end of road, and as towns and villages are getting bigger this is becoming a issue for bt,hence why they are upgrading all there fibre optic links as they are fed up with losing custom to TW/NTL

If anything, the inverse is the case, NTL/TW having to work hard to get beyond having <25% of people in their areas using their services.

Then again, going by some reports, the wonderful 10Mbps service isn't all smooth either.

Go figure...and by the way - with that attitude u wont be getting much further then ** 285 posts....I would know sunshine.

If you missed it 8 mbit UNLIMITED for £21.50

24 mbit for £24 @ https://www.bethere.co.uk/

Enjoy... :D

You spent a lot of times on the forums, I don't... Your point is?

Both of them offers are LLU based (only available to a select few customers, and speeds are also distance based from the exchange... in reality most will gain speeds of less than half of those quoted.. which is why BT are only offering an 8mbit ADSL2 service as of next year)

Please.. quit while you're behind, you're only making yourself look more stupid.

Well i cant grumble,TW have been ok with me, had 3 house moves and no charges, only been with out service 3 times since they started there 512 service many moons ago...Well i do contract to them as well as contracting to BT to and Also NTL and Cable & Wireless.
There will all ways be hickups when upgrading, just like when upgrading a pc,sometimes smooth sometimes hassle.
In general i think the Broadband service in Uk is very good and at a fair price..

My 10 meg is ok,Some days i've had issues with email, but downloading and surfing, playing games been fine. down load between .800 and 1.3 and at a saving of £15 pm over my 4 meg service(£50pm).

BT aren't offering any ADSL2 service next year, and if they were, they'd most likely be offering up to 24Mbps the same as the rest.

I'd suggest you both do, you're only advancing the case for locking this thread.

BT are to offer 8mbit ADSL service, weither that be via ADSL2 or other means that's not the point, the fact remains.. It will only be 8mbit - if you want higher speeds, then you need an LLU exchange (with such links he provided).

I think my point is proven with regards Telewest's service. He has unjustified views

/Rant end. Sorry.

Actually it's entirely the point, given 8Mbps is all the ADSL kit that's out there will do.

Hardly, on both counts. Whether they're justified or not, doesn't give any right to start telling users to "shut up", or calling other posters stupid. Equally, there's hardly a need for  *shrug*
Warning to no one in particular, cool it.

as Tolien has said, bickering like this will just lead to the thread being locked. no one wants that, and equally no one wants to see accounts "breaking". Please avoid insulting each other, and let's leave the arguement as it is please.

Phaser, Doncaster of late is having a lot of problems with the weather for some reason, i actually spoke to an engineer that was parked outside my house, he said due to the nationwide upgrades, and the cold weather, somethings are freezing over and breaking, i asked him about our upgrade he said, early Feb at the earliest, late Feb at the latest.
