Well we have got this Teleport upgrade for our Cable TV here in Chelmsford (seems a bit like Sky Plus) no flaming net upgrade yet though :( , Still it does say up until the end of the month for Chelmsford ;)

Im on Blueyonder 4mb at the moment, Im in the gillingham area and have had some awful problems with the net recently.

Battlefield 2 is fubar'd with the ping every 5 minutes and DoD:S is nerfed as well.

BY site says that to expect some problems during this time but the schedule was 2 days ago, should I be worried or are they sorting it out as we speak?

Also I had blueyonder from when it was first avalible in the UK, I recieved the first modem they started to distribute, as I am going to 10mb should i be worried about this as well and pssibly go about getting a replacement?

Wow - sounds like BB is getting pretty good back in the UK now :)

Here in Madison I have 3MB cable (256Kbps up) for $19.99/mth for six months - at which point it will go up to the regular $47ish/mth. That includes free install and modem.

Madison is one of the better cities in the US in terms of BB coverage but it really isn't as great as you might think. Basically we have a choice of 1.5MB DSL or cable at 384k or 3MB. There is talk of 5MB cable here soon, but nothing official.

I remember when I first got BY 512k cable a few years ago and it seemed like we were so far behind the rest of the world in terms of coverage, price, speeds, etc. Now the UK seems to be pushing on fast, whereas the USA has kinda stalled a bit in recent years. I know it's the British way to always be moaning, but really, you guys back home have got it good :p

That's the difference between the US and the UK. The US rushes headlong into new technology, whereas we tend to get there slower. When we do get there though, we tend to end up with a better solution. Just look at our TV or mobile phone systems :D

If you have a Surfboard 3100 then yes you'll need a resplacement as these can't handle the full 10Mb

The USA is pretty patchy - the average loop lengths for telephone lines are quite often much higher than in the UK, so xDSL availability is a lot lower (plus no incumbant being raped by the regulator to push availability), and cable is about as patchy as here. Just some folks find the best examples, and forget the rest. :)

Canada's a pretty good example of how things should be - cablecos and incumbent fixed line operators in a position where they have to compete for business.

Im in the dudley area (west midlands)on 2meg blueyonder, i seen on selfcare 4 meg was £35 so i thought id upgrade considering im already paying £35 so i done the upgrade. It didnt work 48 hrs later i phoned them to be told it cannot be done becouse all 2 and 4 meg customers are now on the same code (the 10meg code)so the 4 meg code doesent work anymore. So im stuck with 2 meg. They recon dudley area should be upgraded at the end of november. So im waiting impatiently :(
