Well I spent a good part of the day talking to a very helpful man from blueyonder. I am getting 10mb asap in the gillingham area. Been with BY from the begining, got myself a surfboard 3100 which is being changed thursday.
The problem I was having is that with my 4mb line on line games, http, mirc, bittorrent and pretty much anything on the net is suffering badly.
I can understand the problem at the moment with a small difference in ping and a few disruptions but BF2 is giving me pings of 300+, Broadband tests show packet loss of up to 64% some times.
getting the modem changed on thursday 12-4 but the guy at BY said he pinged the modem loads and it was cushdee up 2 8mb. Gilligham has 14% usage on the line so it couldnt be that much of a problem for the upgrade.
He couldnt work it out, and its not just with my pc its with 3 others in the house.
Im using a USR 8054 wired/wireless router and i set up a static ip addy (which the guy at by didn't like ;0 ) and fwd'd many ports, even set up a dmz on one pc.
Anythoughts (btw fresh installs of winxp sp2 so no spyware etc defrag non sense to worry about)
