BMW 730d: Thoughts

In a 7 series engine sound should be silent or at worst unobtrusive. I want to waft in chilled luxury not listen to an engine symphony.

I've got to ask... if you can afford a brand new prestige car, why can you not afford to get away from devil fuel?

You would get an infinitely better experience (noise and general drivability) from a 740/750... Even decent modern diesels are still chugga-chugga, which no sound-proofing i've experienced can remove. The petrol variant would be much quieter and they're much nicer engines.

I agree entirely but you can't hide the engine altogether. In my e65 730d, when gassing it you could hear the engine quite loudly and at idle those tell tale vibrations were ever present through the steering wheel and pedals.
The 750i I replaced it with has no vibrations whatsoever and is much quieter when pushed.

I will absolutely drive a 730d/740d before I buy an F01. I'd be an idiot not to but unless they have impregnated the car with some kind of voodoo sound proofing I'd say I'm unlikely to want one.

Saying that though, how many 750i F01s have the sold? 5? 10? My chances of finding one on the used market in 2013 are minimal at best.
