What screenwash are you using. The BMW stuff is pretty much alcohol. I guess if it evaporates you could have issues but generally mines ok when using genuine fluid and topped up every 6months or so

I haven’t topped it up since buying the car from BMW so I’m guessing it’s whatever was used for the last service.

Would my M Performance exhaust and the M Performance steering wheel be classed as modifications for insurance purposes? They were on the car when I bought it from BMW and I think it was spec'd like that when built, or they were added shortly after it was delivered to the dealership.

I'm just thinking if someone rear ends me and the exhaust is damaged, they'd might put on a regular exhaust and the MPE is nearly £4k with the carbon tips which mine has.

If its original equipment then no, I would only declare after market mods

You'd probably want to look at specialist insurance for that sort of replacement - your average comparison site insurer is unlikely to offer 'like for like' for replacement for things like that (and once you're with specialist insurance, it's less likely declaring such things will make much cost difference anyway).

Factory fit options is one thing (that some cheapskate insurers won't even cover if not declared) but an MPE were dealer fit weren't they?

Seems BMW do like their variations of Blue, which isn't a bad thing since it's one of my favourite colours :)

Not that I am in the market for ordering a car I already have, but it seems that it's not possible to order the M340 in any form (petrol, diesel, saloon or touring) and hasn't been for a while, only search for new/used already built cars?

Phone BMW and see if the parts department recognises you have the M Performance exhaust fitted or the generic. If they say generic then you may want to declare.
