BMW and M Power Owners

Purchased an AUC approved M340i collecting it later today, do dealerships still tax cars? I've been going over the paperwork for the F30 which was also AUC and can see that the BMW dealership has taxed the vehicle for 12 months.

The salesman did say over the phone they'll prep the V5 and tax on the day of collection over the phone - reading online I'm getting mixed responses...

I know few of you recently bought BMW AUC, did yours come pretaxed?

I paid my own tax in 2023 when I collected my MINI AUC.

You need to check for the tax, some dealers include 12 months others don’t. On car’s in the 40k+ tax this can make a fair difference.

I was also surprised the last one I bought they included a full tank of fuel without mentioning it on the invoice means there was probably more I could have got off it.

I paid my own tax from BMW Stratstone on my 340i.

I had to pay the tax during the hand over, that was with Sytner Watford

You tax it yourself at handover. They usually let me do it, and the change of ownership on the DVLA site. I like to make sure it’s all correct!

I think that since the changes in how the tax works (it now needs taxing after a keeper change) the dealer doesn't do it for you. This is how my last few cars have been.

I had to pay it... Only got just over half of thank of fuel, cheapskates. I did get a keyring and a coffee mug though. :p

BMW Sytner paid for full 12 months, this was after the new rules regarding Vehicle Tax were introduced.

This, unless it's new then the first years tax is included in the OTR price.

The dealer can still do it for you - they just do it online using the "I have the V5C/2 new keeper supplement (green slip)" option using your details as if they were you.

This was done when we bought our AUC Countryman last year, with the Tax amount just included within the main car invoice

Friend of mine is after a 3 series touring.
Am I going mad, or is coming up to £10,000 a crazy amount of money for an over 10 year old estate car?

Just make sure he gets Euro 6, ULEZ.
Sadly that’s the market these days. My 4 series Gran Coupe is worth about £11k to trade and is ten years old.
I mean E9x series with a decent drivetrain and spec wasn't cheap few years ago when it was around 10yo...
