BMW and M Power Owners

I actually quite like that, but ultimately it's an old engine, an old model now and seems a bit pricey for what it is?

I think the S3 is a better car tbh, even if you're doing high miles

Yeah I need to have a look in the flesh but the guy's made an effort at least as that leather looks very clean.

Full BMWSH is appealing even though it's done 150,000 miles.
Shame it hasn't got HUD :(
.
Price is actually OK, I've seen 520ds going for more and it has a strong spec.
525d is a plus as it'll save 2 grand on registration tax over the 530/535d.

If it's still free I'll investigate next week. I'd be looking for a straight swap anyway so any cash his way and I'd walk.

I blame phone and champagne :(
Not the first time I've pressed quote instead of edit :p

I miss my Z3..
Much rather have a dagdag E60 than this Audi. Is that bad? :(

Having said that, quite handy going up and down norwegian mountain roads this week :p

Something I noticed in Germany is that almost nobody buys an M Sport. SE cars outnumber those with M Sport bodykits at least 10 to 1 - even the higher end stuff like the 535's are almost overwhelmingly not fitted with the M Sport kit.

I wonder why that is? Are the Germans more interested in substance over style?

Given the climate conditions over there I guess SE suits the country more as well as the fact that the average buyer in the UK wanted everything "SPORT!!!!"?

I don't think climate has anything to do with it. It's just that the UK is very much a style over substance society.
It's all about keeping up with the Joneses and showing off.

Most cars in the UK are M Sports but with no spec.
German cars are almost all SEs but with (usually) more options.

Sure, you can find poverty spec cars, but heavily specced cars are a lot easier to come by.
They want cars that are comfortable, not to show off.

Maybe as its a near 5,000 euro option over there where over here its a couple £100?

£2,835 to go M-Sport instead of SE (On the 5 Series. Then add £2000 for M-Sport Plus. £2300 on 3 series, plus £1900 for M-Sport Plus).

Not sure where you get a couple hundred quid from?

Was looking at the 535D price where the luxury is only a couple of £00s less than the M Sport.

You also don't need the M-Sport plus pack to bring it to the same level as the German M Sport pack.

But the Luxury is an "equivalent" to the M-Sport, in that it adds a lot of spec (and still £2800 more than the SE on the 5 series). Nothing like the SE, to which Fox & mjt were referring. In all fairness though, I was looking at the poverty spec engines on both. The 535's don't come in SE guise, the best engine available being the 530d / 528i, but the cost difference is still the same.

Sure, you don't need the M-Sport Plus to hit German spec. Which is why I added it in brackets for reference only.

German prices are with 19% VAT

520i SE UK - £33,005 // Luxury & M Sport - £35,840
520i DE - €41,200 // Luxury + €4,200 // M Sport + €5,200

530d SE UK - £41,055 // Luxury - £43,855 // M Sport - £43,870
530d DE - €52,000 // Luxury + €4,200 // M Sport + €5,200

Luxury gets significantly cheaper on the x35s and 550i (€2200 and €1300)
But M Sport is still €4700 and €3900 on 535 and 550i

What more substance do you get with SE which you'd sacrifice if you opted for the M Sport equivalent?

Ride comfort. M-Sport springs are generally regarded as giving a terrible ride, although I don't even notice it personally (but then I have been driving M-Sports and S-Lines for years now).

I guess what he is referring to more though, is that spending less on the wheels and bodykit (a la M-Sport kit), you have the money to spend on a better engine, or enhanced spec.

More change for options and better engines.

Most 5 Series here seem to be very low spec with smallest diesel but M Sport. Finding a big spec car is a pain.

M Sport isn't one up from Luxury its the same level. For example no pro nav with M Sport but standard on luxury. Luxury gives comfort features and more spec instead of the M Sport bits.

M Sport is almost 3k more than SE.

Can anyone recommend me a set of decent wheel nuts (without locking bolts) please? I've had a search on eBay etc and there are loads, all claiming to be x% greater strength than the competition and suchlike. I just want nuts that look stock. My current ones are as you'd expect for 9 yr old nuts, looking a bit tired and make my otherwise pristine alloys look bad!

Thanks.
