BMW and M Power Owners

We've got one. Switching the bridgestones for pilot sports pretty much eliminated the wheelspin - so much better. It does less than 40 mpg on a motorway run.
Yeah I heard the potenza's aren't much good on them!
Less than 40 blimey, there seems to be such a mix. Lots of people on the 128 owners group on FB have seen the high 40s on chilled runs

I have my doubts that front splitter will last more than a month or two though!
Just shy of three months.

We were leaving Stirling Castle today and the local council thinks a narrow cobbled street also requires speed bumps as well. I was literally at idle revs going over and heard a horrible scrapping noise.

Pulled over when I could and had this facing me.

Ah no man, that's a sad sight. Was it a clean break or did it shatter?

Sorry to hear you've damaged your car. Stirling Council are absolute throbbers. The amount of money they've wasted over that last 3 years narrowing roads, installing speed bumps and installing cycle lanes that cyclists don't use must be £insane. Glad I don't pay my council tax to them.

Other than your mishap with the car, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my part of the world.

It's just broken as you see it, nothing else is cracked or shattered. An aftermarket replacement seems to be around £70, so not too bad. Maybe a genuine part is not astronomically over priced by comparison. I also feel it's something I can fit myself, if I can get the front high enough to get under with tools.

If it hasn't have been Stirling council, no doubt there are plenty of other unnecessary speed bumps other councils have installed I could have done the same on.

Other than that we've thoroughly enjoyed visiting this part of Scotland. We did visit Edinburgh and Inverness (a base for driving parts of the NC500) in 2019, loved it and vowed to come back. I suggested we come up annually around Easter going forward, which I think we will do.

Just wondered if it could be patched back in with the part that broke away, but at 70 quid I guess its probably not worth faffing around
Couldn't stop where it happened, so didn't recover the piece that broke off. I also doubt I could repair it without it being visible, at least close up and so I'd see it every time I cleaned it.

Just be wary that a lot of the cheaper replica versions of those splitters, especially the ones that come as multiple pieces, are notorious for 'falling off' at reasonable speeds.

Those of you with 2nd gen early B58's, has anyone had the plastic oil pump fail or had it replaced for the newer metal one?

My old M140i had the issue, it was picked up when it was in for its first service. No idea what they did, I just knew it was done as they rang me to say it would take a little longer.

Sounds like a good deal, no idea what the going rate is tho.

Would you mind sharing how much you paid, what year, mileage and roughly when you bought it? The prices seem all over the place currently.. I actually prefer the look of the touring over the saloon.

Is the MHEV/MHT fairly reliable?
Apologies, meant to reply to this days ago but it slipped my mind. Probably easier to post what it hasn't got :) - its missing the M Performance seats and the electric towbar.

This was the advert text from the dealer listing its spec which I think I was very lucky with as around the Covid period the global chip shortages were causing a lot of G20/G21's to have various spec extras missing:-

2021 BMW M340i Touring G21, Dravit Grey., Black/ Fiona Red Extended Merino leather., Panoramic Sun Roof., 19 inch Double Spoke Alloys in Jet Black as part of the Shadowline Plus Pack which also includes Black Mirror Caps and BMW High Gloss Extended Shadow Line with Extended Contents., Fiona Red extended leather, Technology Plus pack which includes Head Up Display, Harman Kardon, Parking Assistant Plus, Driving Assistant Professional and Drive Recorder., Comfort Plus pack which includes Heated Steering Wheel, Comfort Access, Extended Storage, Electric Front Seats with Driver Memory and Lumbar Support., Visibility Pack is included which has Laserlights and High Beam Assistant., Standard specification includes Heated Front Seats, Connected Package Professional with Live Operating Area Professional, Powered Bootlid, Power Folding Mirrors, DAB, Apple CarPlay, Sun Protection Glass, M Sport Differential, Adaptive M Sport Suspension, M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers, Enhanced Bluetooth with Wireless Charging, M Sport Seat Belts and more., Front bonnet; bumper; wings and rear bumper have PPF applied. Balance of manufacturers warranty.

I purchased it in early 2023 with 19k miles and it cost me at the time £47k which although it sounds a lot now, was around the going rate for a G21 (Tourings command a slight premium purchase price over the saloons) with a similar spec. I had narrowed down my colour choice to either Dravit or Portimao Blue and wanted a Pano roof (as per Joe Achilles recomendations) HUD and Laser lights. Missed out on a blue one the week before the Dravit example came up and called the dealer to secure it as soon as I read the advert. It was located in Hertfordshire and I'm in Scotland so I got the sales person to send me a detailed 4k walkround of the car and bought it without seeing it or driving it. Some would say that was a risk but it was every bit as good as the sales guy said and better, in the flesh once it arrived.

I'm now sitting at around 46k miles and all its needed is routine servicing and tyres (1st replacement set were CSC7's, then when they wore out I had PS4S * marked fitted which are the current tyres).

The MHT B58 is every bit as reliable as the non-MHT versions, I'm part of an active owners group and I've read nothing bad about them compared to the non-MHT. The well documented oil pump failure can raise its head if you are really unlucky but then thats for both MHT and non-MHT variants. As to longevity of the MHT batteries, I don't know - I don't intend on keeping the car as long as that so hopefully won't find out!

It's been a fantastic car for me, best daily I've ever owned. It'll swallow two mountain bikes easily or load up for a trip to Europe with the family. It's a very Jekyll & Hyde car as it can cruise along in Comfort or Adaptive mode all day but stick it in Sports+ and it really does become an utter ballistic missile, far too quick for anything I may need it to do but its nice to have the power there and I do enjoy giving it a blast every now and then. I've added a few bits and bobs to mine over the past couple of years - M Performance rear diffuser, front splitter and side skirts, rear tail spoiler cap from Maxton, carbon mirror caps and a carbon grille. I also retrofitted M1/M2 buttons which I personally find very useful for switching between drive modes without having to look down at the centre console.

I'll likely be changing the car later this year and going for an M3 Touring - I just want to scratch that itch. Don't need the power and the sales manager at my local dealer says if it was him he'd have the M340i as a daily over an M3, but I want to try one out anyway

Thanks @Draeger, still on a lookout, but just incase ordered a few bits to service the F30 before the eurotrip. I talked my dad out of rush buying, as the M340i's selection and prices aren't great currently.. He no longer wants the 5 series, so that's a plus. :D

I'm not sure why, but loads of cars that have been listed now have magically shot up in price, some were listed last year for £4-6k less. The price's in general for the M340i's have shot up... He was prepped to overpay to have a new car for the trip, but the other issue is that there isn't anything that ticks all the boxes (damn cream interiors :p).

My mate shared his access to the databases that the traders have with me, it's been very handy so far!

I hate marmite, but love a red interior

I generally find the BMW ones are a bit too red, although in the pic that looks fantastic. Mercedes red leather is a bit more burgundy and looks nicer to my eyes at least.

Lovely looking car Draeger. The red & grey looks really good (I have a G22 in the same colour but with black M Performance seats with blue stitching)

I have just put CSC7's on the car & I am very impressed with them. I see you have now gone with PS4S on the car. I would be very interested in your thoughts on the matter if you have a moment please

I've got a metallic grey 335D F31 with the red interior, I love it... the post by @Draeger makes me want to upgrade to a newer M340D :)

Lush.

Actually it's also getting a full new set of CSC7s on Sunday.
