BMW M Coupe

What this?

Basically the red line moves according to the oil temp. So when you start up, the red line is quite low down the rev range, and as the oil temp increases so does the red line.

a gimmick that could have been good

around the rev counter you have lights that act as a variable rev limit indicator. unfortunately this uses the water temp not the oil temp, in mine the oil is hardly off 50 degrees on the oil temp when it recons full revs are possible

the top2 lights ore used only on smg cars as a shift light

I still love these, wonderful cars.
Think I've decided that if I had the money, I'd have two cars. One would be something practical and sensible like a 530 diesel. The other would be an M Coupe (though probably the Z4 based version). I just love the compromise of something that's lighter than a 911, has nearly comparable power, and won't have the reliability issues of a TVR. What more could you ask for.
No, it isn't a Ferrari or Aston, but as most of those are so fast/heavy that they're in the GT camp, I'd rather stick with the Zm Coupe.

the an only around 150 pheonix yellow m coups in RHD

and there are only 6 RHD S54 engined phoenix yellow M coupes in this country. I would love one so much. They command a big premium over the older E36 engined M coupes.

Only thing that scares me is the potention running costs - the £1k/yr BMW warranty is considered pretty much essential. And there's a £250 excess.

So that means I'd need 4 or more bills in excess of £500 to get my moneys worth. Erk

forgetting the performance, they are ugly as sin. both that and the roadster version tbh. ugly as hell.

Totally agree, I quite like some machines that look ugly, it gives them a sort of appeal but that thing is beyond redemption.

My mate drove into the carpark one night before a match, (in his M coupe) and pulled a weak donut. I told him it was pants, he then lobbed me the keys saying. "You do it better"

So i gave it some juice, dropped the clutch and did a nice 360 from standing on the spot :p My god, it has so much power, and seems sooo stable. I could have drifted about in it all day without so much as breaking a sweat :D (

Its great fun when its not your own tyres!

they look like a mid life crisis for men. huge bulging long front to it.
horrible.

I have a big long Bulging Front but im not having a mid life crises ;) :p

Actually now that im thinking about it, If you held the car up and made it face that it would resemble a twig and giggle berrys :p

I've driven one and what a rocket it is. I would buy one but then I wouldn't :) because of other options I could buy.

My friends about to trade a black one in for the Z4 M coupe he said its been his most favourite car he has ever owned.

Buy one :)

Z3 M Coupe - Just wouldn't be able to live with the looks.

Z4 M Coupe - I own an M3 and I've had a Z4 2.2 for a week, which was a hoot - The combination of the lightweight and small Z4 M chassis and the E46 M3 engine really works for me. Not particulary great value for money at the moment though.

Just saw a Z4 one, arse on it looks terrible and the rear light clusters...hmm

Z3 version for the win, more curves, better stance - would be my choice (based on looks alone, show me the specs and I might change)
