My mum was a big fan and I considered it child abuse being forced to listen to it when I was a nipper.
But he was only her second favourite... to Leonard Cohen.![]()
Good songwriter, average musician, horrendous singer

Absolutely agree on the point about his voice. I really liked it in his early albums, but anything after about 1989 sound like he smoked 100 cigarettes a day while gargling gravelThere’s some absolute gems in his early work, and I quite like him in The Traveling Wilburys. He has just about the worst voice in music, though. Just staggeringly bad.
One of my colleagues saw him live like 5-10 years ago and said that most of the time he had no idea what song he was even playing.
+1I quite like him in The Traveling Wilburys.
Leonard Cohen is awesome!
He's the only artist where everybody who covers his songs does a better job.
When that Dylan film A Complete Unknown came out last year I rang my mate who is a huge Dylan fan and played his songs live for decades.
I was that upset with the Queen Bohemian Rhapsody film that was made up in a lot of places I didn't want to endure another load of crap.
He said it's a very accurate film but they did get the very last concert at the end of the film wrong otherwise it's worth watching - so I did.
