its with my 70-300mm VR lens, so lowest F/stop i can go is 4.5

It's not likely to score very highly but you should be able to get some great bokeh outdoors; have your subject near the closest focusing distance, then make sure the background is far off.

It has "bokeh" but I think the problem with the comp this month is making the bokeh interesting\a big part of the picture. I'm not sure just having nice creamy bokeh of a non-descript background cuts the mustard, well I hope not as none of my lenses do that! :D

It is an interesting place to start but I think you are only half-way through producing the picture.

Try telling a story.

What is the reason for the makeup, perfume, etc?

Maybe you need a theatre ticket, a picture of a boyfriend, or something similar in the bokeh to give it context and meaning.

it is also not very well laid out. Neither composed like a still life nor cluttered enough to convey a story of mess and chaos.

I think you need two main items. One in sharp focus, one soft, where together they tell us something.

Does this sound harsh? It isn't meant to. I think you are within grasp of a good photo.

i think you may be missing the point, and i cant talk because i havent entered yet, but just having Bokeh isnt going to be too succesful.. You need an "angle" or interesting take on the bokeh, imho.

fair enough

i'm still a long way off then, i need to keep practicing!!! :)

dont take my comment in a negative way :) I meant instead of trying to get bokeh in, try and make it the subject.
