Bono Net Policing Idea Draws Fire

This is the same Bono who ignobly doesn't pay tax on music royalties in his home country?

But that's different, because (a) he has more money and (b) he's a Creator.

Besides, he's obviously right. The entire entertainment industry has been put out of business by piracy, hasn't it? When I walked past a large, busy HMV this afternoon, it was all an illusion.

Yeah, I went to the cinema last wednesday and quite obviously didn't spend 40 minutes queueing to see a film to then find out it had sold out just a minute before I got to the front. Totally ruining the film industry is piracy.

Let's all copy our U2 records and give them to our friends...

Oh wait I don't own any and I want to keep my friends!

Sigh, bono.

I'd spend more time practising my vocal cords than worrying about nonsense if I was him. If his 'singing' continues like it is now there won't be any albums of theirs left worth pirating.

Does Bono practice being a pillock of the highest order or does it just come naturally? I find myself pondering that conundrum almost every time I hear one of his utterances. I'm personally leaning towards it being that he practices but he's just taking his natural gift in this area to the higher echelons of what is possible...

I was just listening to the original version of Sunday Bloody Sunday and thinking what an amazing voice he had. Pity.

Indeed. I've been attacked almost relentlessly from fan boys for maintaining the last time we heard his 80's voice was December 31, 1989 at Croke Park at the end of the Love Town tour with his 'going away and dream it all up again' speech. Achtung Baby was released 2 years later and he was a different singer. Perhaps still good, but different.

These days I don't bother with them any more.

Yeah being watched is not the way, but it is a problem and it does need clamping down on. Lets be honest most people who download do it through torrents. Which means they are also distributing which is a criminal offence.

Although I think the tide is turning as legal ways catch up, which are free with adverts or pay a premium without.

The movie industry is dying, but in other news Bono.

"The James Cameron epic Avatar has already surpassed the $1 billion milestone globally, making it the fourth-biggest movie of all-time, in just 16 days of release."
