Time-shifting is specifically allowed for under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended (s70 if you're interested). There are of course limitations to the permitted acts once you have it and relating to how you make the copy but the action in itself is theoretically at least permissable.

By all means have a dig at Bono for anything else and I may well be happy to go along with that but it's not a good example I'm afraid.
 
Last night I downloaded every U2 track and DVD I could get my hands on and put them immediately in my Recycle Bin.
That'll learn him.

Just done some research on that and it looks epic. I will happily pay a monthly subscription similar to Sky for unlimited on demand TV, movies and music can easily be added too. 100meg internet connection please.

Completely correct. I suspect that he could afford a video recorder prior to 1988 though and then it was a breach.

You get the idea though, he only cares about breaching copyright when he thinks that he might be losing out....

It is, because you can barely mash out a coherent response to most things.

Regarding the thread this is stupid, I don't get why the ISPs are considered to be robbing the music industry at all - they aren't promoting downloading of music etc at all they are often shown to promote the opposite.
