Book issue

I'd just say the faulty book will be returned to you once you provide the pre paid postage label. Every time they contact you after that just keep saying the same thing.

Do they actually even want it back? Have they basically said keep it but your sister is insisting on returning it?

Yes, they want it back but she told them she not paying to return it.
 
A book without a cover might be effectively stolen, a stripped book. It's a means of getting money back for unsold books - the cover is removed and returned and the book is taken as having been destroyed, so the vendor gets their money back. Some of them will then sell the book without a cover to make more money.

In theory they could just bill her now for the excess fees and handling that will occur and it'll end up at a collection agency And be a thorn in her side for months.... Now she is genuinely liable for that cost and not paying it would be completely and utterly dishonest.
500x more dishonest than putting the old book in a jumble sale or charity box.
 
Well, its getting returned tomorrow now as she is going to pop it into a postbox, without a senders address on it and no postage on it.

The shop can pay for that now or it will get destroyed by RM.
So no evidence it's been returned and nothing to help them track who's it is if they do pay for it to be delivered.
Just keep it if that's the other option.
 
Tell the seller that the book is ready for collection as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and to contact her to arrange a suitable time for collection.

That's it, if they reach out with anything else then ignore it.

This is the right thing to do.

If they do not arrange a collection for 6-12 months, then you have perfect material for starting the BBQ next summer :)

e: Just seen the latest update, what an absolute bonkers way to deal with this :cry: Now if they agree to arrange a collection/returns label she has to say "Oh I put it in a postbox with nothing on it..." which basically makes her liable to pay for it :cry::cry::cry:

Thing is, there is nothing in that package that directs anyone back to her. Only the shop. They can send her a bill for postage if they want. She wont pay it. Just like they were refusing to pay postage for the return.

They are the dishonest ones. They should have accepted responsibility for getting the book back.

Nope. They totally refused to pay for return. She didnt want to just destroy the book herself.

At least its up to them now. They will have to pay for it to be delivered to them now!
