Hi All

I have a problem in that when i boot up my computer and come up with an OS start system on the boot menu with the choices of booting with either 'Windows XP Professional' or 'Windows' how do i get rid of this as i just want the computer to automatically just boot up XP?

Many Thanks

Put in your Windows XP CD and boot from it. Then when your are given the option to fix the installation using the recovery console by pressing 'R' - press R. :)

But, as you can boot your OS it would be easier to boot Windows then right click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Advanced tab then the Startup and Recovery button.

Click on the Edit button to edit the startup file: to only load one OS it should look something like this:-
Code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Hope this helps.

Right click My Computer -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery section and click Settings.

The rest is pretty self explanatory from there. :)

Way I usually do it, although I've used DOS from version 5 if i'm explaining to someone who doesn't know much about PC's I'll keep them in the Windows environment :D
