Boot problem after installing SSD

Hi all. Installed my new SSD today, all went great. Got my essentials installed onto it and tweaked it up, changed the boot controller to AHCI, etc. All working fine.

I've just gone to plug my old hard drive in (still has all my old data on) and when I went into BIOS just to check the boot order, I couldn't see my SSD? Only my old drive and CD Rom. If I unplug the SATA cable which goes into my old drive then it works as normal. On a whim I tried booting off it and it wouldn't boot.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Gave it a shot, wasn't able to repair anything/did nothing.

Also tried a different SATA port to see if that was the problem, same issue. :(

Try booting from ssd then connect the hdd while in windows, then asign a new hdd letter to the old hdd

Thanks for the help. Plugged it in, assigned a new drive letter and started formatting it through Disk Management. Will let you know how it goes. :)

Well, formatted fine and cleaned everything off it. Gave it a new letter and restarted. Same problem. :(

It was just looking for a boot medium, went into BIOS and it can see the old HDD and CDROM in there as a boot priority just not my SSD! Weird though as the SSD is being recognised in the SATA listings.

I had read about this before and had a quick look in there to see if I could see anything of the sort and couldn't. BRB while I check again...
