Apart from if you wanted to return your iPhone to Apple what is the point of doing this? I just don't get it.

Yeah, they managed to get round it by hacking around with the baseband/version.. historically if you downgraded you lost locate me.

Well it's one more thing that's been modified on the phone, and it doesn't need to be.. there is a chance that Apple could use that to brick phones in the future, but I personally very much doubt it.

There is no 'omg you can't do this' feature with the bootloader versions, it just depends whether you are bothered by the needless alteration or not.

ive run bootneuter now, thought I would just in case. I assume that I can now uninstall it?

I would like to know this too, as I dont want to keep the icon on the screen and installed if its not needed anymore.
