Borderlands 3

Hey,

What do you guys think of this game,
How does it play/run on pc?

Thanks

As Vincent says, its Borderlands, so dont expect too much revolutionary, its more of the same. The gunplay is superb, loot is superb, gameplay is superb. The story is a bit pants, the villains are a bit pants but the game is pure fun.

Performance has been hit and miss, some people have had issues with performance or bugs, I've been lucky enough to have no problems with either. The good news is that performance and bugs can be tuned but bad gameplay cant (I'm looking at you Anthem), so the game has it done well where it initially counts.

I'm such a bad gamer :(

I just got to that huge ball boss thing and I can't freakin kill it. I must have died 15 times in a row. Lost all my money too :(

I tried various weapons but nothing takes it down fast enough. My Zane is useless as all my buffs trigger after I kill enemies and this boss doesn't have any minions.

I used Zane’s decoy and drone and just used cover whenever the boss started attacking. They both still continue to shoot it even if you’re not.

Heavy DPS is key I think. AR, SMG and pistol did it for me. Pistol and SMG had fire elemental effect.

Found that one easier than Killavolt until I stumbled upon which weapon to use. :p

Yeah I figured out that I have to juggle between elements for different mobs. Makes it a lot easier!

Zane still sucks though, I'm also using decoy and drone but they don't do enough damage at level 21. Maybe they'll get better as I level up.

Zane’s shield is brilliant. Can shield you from most things and the little tinks just run at it, bounce off and get electrocuted to death.

This is where ppl go wrong IMO, it’s not about the damage dealt by your abilities, it’s the skills they can stack in the tree for your character. Zane is ridiculously op when you have clone and sentinel active, you can continually get huge bonuses to gun damage and crits.

I’ll share my build if you need it.

Yeah I'd like to take a look at it, thanks.

I started on the blue tree and haven't touched the orange one yet, level 22. Should I start investing in the orange tree?

So do points in other skill trees count even though they’re not activated? And secondly do you no longer need to put points in a class mod’s skill for it to be active?

Class mod bonus only need to have the skill available (as in you have spent enough points to unlock the tier where that skill lives), you don't need to invest any actual skill points in them.

Don't even think it needs that far, unless it was an unintended bug I've had class mods unlock tier 2 and 3 skills in trees I haven't invested in at all.

And what about my other question? Say you've got the blue track active in your loadout, do skills in the green/orange trees with points work as well? Or only when you change them to active?

Are you sure they're actually functional? In BL2 you need at least 1 point in the skill for any bonus from a class mod to actually work.

BTW does TVHM unlock additional relic slots? Because that was one thing that disappointed me about BL2: it was all just bigger numbers. For there to be a real difference between VHM, TVHM, and UVHM, I really would have liked additional Relic or Class Mod slots (or both).

Yeah they were functional. I had one a couple of the utilities from FL4K's blue tree when I wasn't invested in it at all. You could see them ticking on the bar at the bottom and the effects being recieved.

I'm currently playing as Moze and I've got to Athenas, I'm level 12 or 13 and have just met Captain Traunt and I'm really not feeling the love.

Wow, I'm lvl 14 and nowhere near that far through, I've literally only just got to Promethea. Have you been doing all the side missions or just the main missions?

Athenas is also the most prettiest of the planets. Oh, and 12/13 is barely any skill points and still naff weapons, but not everyone will enjoy the game.

Just took out
Pain & Terror, hehe, I like how they did that with Penn actually voicing
and am at 33 with my Zane.

Mainly the main missions, but some of the side missions too.

Anyway, for giggles I set all the quality settingns to the Very Low preset and I get around 100 fps at 4k - only a 50% boost from the 60+ fps at the settings to which I linked earlier - a mixture of High and Ultra apart from Volumetric Fog.
