Borderlands

I think i'm enjoying it but i'm not loving it and not sure i'll play it much more. I find the quests not that exciting and confusing in the story line - but this could be me playing coop with people who know what they are doing so rushing me along.

Constantly getting disorientated in game. The car vehicle steering is just plain silly :(

I think I need to play this a bit more in SP before hitting MP

My philosphy is always to do SP before hitting MP. I now know the story, areas, quests, etc. so when playing co-op I know what's going on. Otherwise you will be confused and get frustrated. Once again, this seems to be a game where no-one talks to each other so you don't know where people are going or what they're doing. The task status is dependent on the party leader who doesn't always change it accordingly.

I found the same. Died three times and ran out of ammo. As a last resort I threw some grenades...5 grenades later and he was down!

Mine was a shotgun from the 50 odd yards away, did stupid damage even at that range (hiding behind the furthest away pillar) because the thing was so big and half of the shots always critted for some reason.

Co-op public games are made of lose anyways.

Had a game last night with 3 from here, all mic'd up, was good fun.

I do agree with completing SP first being a good idea though, so I am busy blitzing through New Haven.

right when a weapons says 100 damage say

and has the text +40 Damage underneath is that included in the dmg figure ie does it do 100, or does it do 140?

First time I played this game was with 2 mates co-op, they had already been playing it on their lan a bit and so were rushing through doing things. I felt the same I was disorientated I didn't know what was going on and I wasn't enjoying it.

Played it on my own got up to speed with things, and the next time I played with them i loved it, I also think the game does's start a little sluggish,soon becomes awesome though.

Going on what I've read, the 40% is included in the damage shown, so it's original damage would have been 72.

Might be Zonealarm asking for permissions? That's always my first thought when this kind of thing happens... if it is, and you can't see it or switch to it, try alt-R and then alt-A...

yeah don't worry about it give it 5 mins and it will pop up working, then just go to option and put in the right resolution and it wont happen again.

had the same issue (cat 9.10 win 7 too steam version)

Make sure you don't go further than the current missions we have completed if you do ;)

That's a shame though, as I would have gone for a cauterize specced soldier from the start had I known, as it would be a similar play style to my WoW druid days.

if you go to those new u stations you can purchase a respec (underneath the choosing your character colours)

and reasign all your points at will :)

I bought this the otherday realy like it.

Dont have anyone to play with though. Add me on steam stoke1863

you'll want to add some of these tweaks mate

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=15183636&postcount=334

A few additional tweaks posted on the gearbox forums:
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=79043

To disable the startup movies:
-----------------------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:

Find:
[FullScreenMovie]
StartupMovies=2K_logo
StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
StartupMovies=NVidia
StartupMovies=Loading
SkippableMovies=2K_logo
SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
SkippableMovies=Attract
SkippableMovies=NVidia

and comment out lines like so:

[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=2K_logo
;StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
;StartupMovies=NVidia
;StartupMovies=Loading
;SkippableMovies=2K_logo
;SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
;SkippableMovies=Attract
;SkippableMovies=NVidia

To adjust FOV (Field of View):
-----------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Below the chunk of bindings, add the following:

Bindings=(Name="F10",Command="FOV 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 110",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

You can change the keys (F10 and F11) to whatever you'd like, as well as the FOV values.

To disable/adjust weapon view bob:
----------------------------------
Within WillowGame.ini:
Search for "bWeaponBob" and you should come across the following lines:

bWeaponBob=TRUE
Bob=0.005

They should be pretty self explanatory. I can confirm the Bob numerical adjustment does work.

To enable VSync:
-----------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:
Search for "UseVsync" and you should come across the following line:

UseVsync=False

Change to TRUE.

To disable voice chat:
---------------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:
Search for "bHasVoiceEnabled" and you should come across the following line:

bHasVoiceEnabled=True

Change to FALSE.

To enable console:
------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "ConsoleKey" and you should come across the following line:

ConsoleKey=

Add 'Tilde' after the equal sign to enable the console (should look like ConsoleKey=Tilde)

To disable mouse smoothing:
----------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "bEnableMouseSmoothing" and you should come across the following line:

bEnableMouseSmoothing=True

Change to FALSE. Should improve the feel of the mouse when looking around and navigating the UI.

Enable Drop Weapon Key:
-------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Within that section, search for "ThrowWeapon". By default, it's bound to "Underscore" - I changed mine to V, so it looks like:

Bindings=(Name="V",Command="ThrowWeapon",Control=F alse,Shift=False,Alt=False)

To make zoom a toggle:
--------------------------------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:

Put the text below under [WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]

Bindings=(Name="ZoomIn",Command="StartAltFire | setbind ThumbMouseButton zoomout",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftT rigger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False, bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="ZoomOut",Command="StopAltFire | setbind ThumbMouseButton zoomin",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTr igger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,b IgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="ThumbMouseButton",Command="zoomout ",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTrig ger= False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnore Shift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

To enable scroll wheel in text boxes:
-----------------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini

Search for all instances of the following (there should only be two instances):

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp",ModifierKeyFlags=42
InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown",ModifierKeyFlags=42

remove the ",ModifierKeyFlags=42" so they look like:

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp"
InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown"

Fantastic! I did the recommendations in the post above and I now get no keyboard/mouse input at all!

did you run the game and change a setting first?

go to your options in game go to the key bindings and reset to default.

you'll get all the bindings back, then change your resolution or something to make the configs get saved/updated.

Then edit the config.
