bored with gaming-anyone else feeling the same?

Same with PS Now. There's some decent stuff on there but I've played them already. Rest is just filler and crap I'll never touch.

As to the OP I am enjoying myself going through my backlog on the PS5 and buying the odd new title as and when. My Switch is where I play indies now mostly and I still enjoy those from time to time. Also enjoy the snes offerings on there as well. As console gamers we've never had it so good so I am not complaining.

Yes!

/\ This one is amazing, first review of Mario Kart on Bad Influence, Girls know their games, the boys weren't as impressed!

I've been feeling similar for a while, which is why last night I was watching a few episode's of the above to try and relight the flame that got me running home to watch Bad Influence! The above is maybe a bit old for you but it was the golden-era in the UK for gaming, such an amazing time with innovation around every corner, it was impossible to get bored, I think everything feels a bit samey today, I really miss watching games really evolve in terms of mechanics and graphics.

I have to push myself to get into games today, I may get back into some good old retro gaming, grab the old Spectrum out of the loft and load up Treasure Island Dizzy!! Those were the days!

The feels - loved that show! Remember taping the episide when AvP on the Jaguar was mentioned, then watching the bit over and over in awe.

Yeah I'm feeling a bit bored with it at the moment; build a new gaming rig last November mainly for Flight Sim but not been playing that as much as I did to begin with.
Almost considering selling the PC (or at least downgrading the 3080) and just picking up a Series X but I think I'd miss the graphic quality of the the PC games!

Finished playing Doom external then dirt 5. looked around for another game and could not find anything else that I fancied playing. Not switched the console on for months.

There is nothing on the market I fancy playing. Anyone else feeling the same?

For me, it's the wrong time of year to be gaming - usually too hot, or I'm out and about on my motorcycle, also have a ~8 month old baby taking up chunks of time too :D

The Wife picked me up a PS5 a few months back, and the only thing I play on that regularly, is Ride 4, but I also have a couple of other PS5-enhanced games (Miles Morales from the MM, Valhalla, and recently installed Metro Exodus again).

What puts me off gaming mainly though, is the frankly daft pricing on PSN - £110 for Battlefield 6 pahahahahahahaha!!! Not just that, but I'm getting tired of the whole "Season" nonsense and the fact that most games these days, come with chargeable content in mind - rather than delivering a complete game.

I think this gen is going to either push me back into PC gaming or getting used to picking games up 6/12/24 months down the line - as I refuse to pay the silly prices they are asking now. Add to that, there's not really anything around that I'm interested in, or care about.

That's EA's pricing and yes it is a joke. Battlefield Ultimate Whatever Editions have been over-priced for years.

That will be on Game Pass soon enough, all of the other Battlefield games are.

Haven't used the xbox or ps4 for months, last game I played was the remaster of halo 2 but then couldn't be bothered to start 3. I go through phases though, always have.

That said I noticed command and conquer remastered was available on gamepass and I've been playing that a lot this week. Forgot how hard it was or how bad I am at it :o

I didn't realise that was on EA play. I know what I'll be playing over the next few days.

It's the new gen drought period, the decent stuff will start to appear next year.

I struggle with the indie stuff myself (what is it with the 8 bit graphics on everything?)

I've been struggling lately, but as Kreeeee has mention I've just picked up a XSX with games pass and have been sampling stuff I wouldn't normally so have actually had a good few days gaming.

It will get better.

I had Game Pass since day one, sometimes when your given the keys to the whole sweetshop it doesn't help you fall in love with sweets again, I remember just having 20p to grab penny and half penny sweets, that's when I enjoyed them most, I think that's part of the problem today, we are oversaturated with games and choices, it's hard to find that diamond in amongst the sea of cubic zirconia's out there!

Indeed.
I remember paying between £30 to £40 for a NES game back in the day. That was a lot of money in those times, actually still is today just for a game. We had to spend lots of time researching a game before buying to reduce the chance of buying a dud and wasting hard earned cash. Once bought, it would be played to death in order to justify the purchase, get maximum value, and would have to last a while until cash was readily available to blow on another game. Nowadays, games can just be throwaway pieces of entertainment, if you can call it that. More like spend a few quid to play a crap game for an hour then never play it again because there's an equally crap game just sitting there.

I’m not bored of gaming as such, I don’t keep replaying games like I used to, as I find little motivation to do so these days but do really enjoy a single player game.

Aside from my annual bout of Football Manager I barely play single player games now, it tends to be dipping in and out of BFV and COD multi player now.

God when I think of the hours put into games like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, etc "back in the day", I don't know where I'd find the time now!

Have experienced this more times than I can remember PC and Console. For me it is usually when I get oversaturated from playing the same game to death (usually MP). I always have a handful of games on the go. Always a Multiplayer game (BFV, RDR2), something story driven with lots of exploration and then a kickback game. From reading a lot of you guys get a lot out of Gamepass, for me I own the main games I play via GP at the moment.

State of Decay 2
has been reignited due to the latest update and also Deep Rock Galactic which I purchased Ultimate recently as it is a solid 4 player coop experience. It was on sale to really wanted to support the devs. I ended up getting Valhalla just because it was something new and tried twice to get into it but just isn't clicking. Personally think having so many games to choose from we are spoilt for choice. Regardless whether deemed good or bad, you can install them and see if they work for you. 'Back in the day' It was a case of reading a magazine review or just what was available on the shelves in GAME.

Also with the Pandemic (tired of that word now) my hobby has become part of my daily routine now as a go to for relaxing and taking my mind off things. Not a big tv watcher and outside of the gym not much to get on with really. My GPU popped it's cloggs couple of weeks ago so firmly back on the SX now but really loving the titles that do make the most of the hardware the 60fps and M&K really are a welcome addition. But that desire I used to get from gaming isn't as it used to be, that 'feeling of can't wait to get home' to get online. Kind of looking forward to the new battlefield but unsure whether to invest on the console or wait until I get a new PC up and running.

Agree, it's just the time of year when not many big hitters are released. I tend to spend more time doing other activities outdoors when the its not raining!. If I turn my series x on its only for a small stint. GamePass has some excellent hidden gems though.

+1 subscriptions and rental services are the way to do with new games costing £70.

Either MS game pass or traditional mail order game rental services (of you're on Playstation) can be had for around £5-10 per month and that's far more tolerable.

We have this thread about 3 times a year, if not more ;)

Gaming is a hobby and a pass-time but it'll never give you any sense of satisfaction or fulfilment. It's just a distraction.

It's also a pretty passive (for want of a better word) hobby, in as much as you consume but you don't often create in many games (with the exception of stuff like Minecraft, yadda yadda). So you just run around shooting stuff or whatever and it can (and does) get pretty formulaic. Once you've played a few shooters you've played em all, as the cliche goes.

If you've seen it all and done it all just put the games down and do something else for a time, do something creative or stimulating, and pick up gaming again if you ever get the urge again.

Most of us get bored of it at some point. And those of us getting on in years really can claim to have "seen it, done it, got the t-shirt" for the most part. A lot of new games are just iterating on old ideas.

My interest in gaming is definitely declining with age. I'm in my early 30s and I find I'm getting a lot more satisfaction from things like playing golf, mountain biking, hiking, going to the gym, cooking, socialising with people, etc, than sitting there playing video games. Not that I'm trying to suggest that gaming is something people should stop enjoying by a certain age, it's just that I feel like my interests and priorities are shifting with age and gaming doesn't really feel like a great use of my time any more.

Less declining with age, and more that I just don't have time with work and kids. Summer plays a part as well as I am healthier now. Every autumn (or when it rains) I go back, and more recently my boy insists I play with him which is nice. I am finding I'm trying different genres as bored of cod etc. Frostpunk was fun, and re2 as a return to the past. Change of genre to Souls games helped with this (wierdly reminds me of older/retro games) and looking forward playing disco Elysium and plague tale..

Yes totally but then I've been gaming pretty hard for the past 6 months so no surprise I've got a bit of burn out.

Even went back to BF5 to put a few hours in, had enough of that now.
