bored with gaming-anyone else feeling the same?

I've gone through these phases plenty of times. Play games for a few months a lot then get bored and don't really play for months or years, then get back into it again. Currently on my longest spell of gaming for a while which kicked off with the pandemic starting last year

That video reminded me of Bits on c4 with Emily booth. That was some teenage crush right there. Lol.

Them were good times and the tv shows were actually new and exciting.

I'm 40 with two kids and make time for gaming because I find its the best way for me to switch off to the world. when I had a PC earlier this year I was stuck in a loop playing the same games and obsessing over temps and settings and just getting a bit bored of it all

Selling my pc and getting an SX with Gamepass has actually reignited my enjoyment for gaming, I'm playing different games to what I did on my pc and really enjoying them but to keep that going i make sure I only game for a couple of hours and only a few times a week, I don't download hundreds of games and jump from one to another I make sure I play the games I download and stick to them until they're finished so I don't get sucked into the overwhelming choice issue that gamepass gives

Currently playing through all the Halo games, I remember thinking it looked rubbish when I was a pc elitist fanboy and I'm actually really enjoying them apart from ODST which is the worse so far

The older i get the less i enjoy them.

I start a game that all the hip kids go on and on about and get about half way through and it just feels like a chore.

Many of the games have so many long cut-scenes and filler that mostly just feels like a waste of time.

Like in Mafia 2, i spent half the time driving from A to B and the actual driving gameplay is terrible.

Fallout 4 i have tried to play several times and give up after a while.

What was the last game you enjoyed playing?

I highly recommend Returnal if you have a ps5, it has no start menu and throws you straight into the action, minimal story and although a modern game it has an arcade feel to it.

Another game I always return to is risk of rain 2.

What was the last game you enjoyed playing?

call of duty black ops 4 ( zombies online )

i played that a lot but not for months now

Also like the first 4 gears of war games but not the 5th since i find they have ruined the great aiming system and no matter what settings i change it to i dont like it.
I looked it up online and many others found the same thing so im not alone

I think I'm bored with new stuff. I find I go back to older games from the 360/PS3 era and keep replaying them. I'm hoping The Ascent on 29th July will be a great title.

When games are coming out yearly ie forza horizon its hard to see changes in the game to warrant playing it.
Personally they should go to 2-3 year development times for games again. It would allow major bugs to be sorted and hopefully lean towards better quality rather than quantity of games being released.

None of that pleases the publisher's though...

Too many games aren't actually games at all. More like interactive movies.
Most of the games I play are retro games on older systems. I just like simple pick up and play games and no bull.

I'm bored but for the opposite reason, lack of gaming for me. I completely snapped my distal bicep tendon. Arm was all put back together at the start of last week and I'm in a sling which I currently can't remove.

My arm is getting straightened on Thursday and I can start very gentle exercise for a couple of hours a day. No driving for 6 weeks and I expect picking up a controller will be the same. Not rushing anything but I can't wait!

How did you do that?
Lifting a heavy box (42kg) up to put on a shelf about 1.5m off the floor. Done it before countless times, it just caught me off guard. Thankfully it never really hurt. Won't be lifting anything close to that sort of weight for a year.

Physio starts next week, thankfully I've got really good guy who I trust who I've used before.
