Bosch professional or dewalt

My dad was a Joiner/Carpenter, and almost all his tools are Makita, so I'm gonna say Makita is worth looking at. :D

If your not going to be doing much and just want something for diy, get the duel Ryobi set from screwfix, they are usually 99 quid. Other than that go for makita.

I've got a load of makita tools, which are all 5 year old or older and they still work as well as the day I got them. I've also had a dewalt cordless which packed in after 3 years.

All my tools get used and abused, by me and friends, I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I'd say makita from experience, but more and more contractors are getting hitachi gear which is well made and seems to be powerful.

Make things harder been told look at metabo

What do you want this drill to do and how often will you be using it?

simple holes into wood and metal, hammer action for bricks and the like? Is price an issue?

For diy use and non trades man i'd always recommend and 18v Ebaurer drill.

I'd rather have a Bosch over a Dewalt, I'm not much of a fan of Dewalts. I also like Makita and have owned that brand more than any other. Any of the Metabo ones that I've came across I'd have been happy to own as well. And now for a totally different brand, I hope to get a couple of Panasonics soon as I've been using them recently and think they are very good.

I've had cheap cordless had about 3 all gone bang or rubbish. Tis time I want a good one but not silly price.

What are metabo like as found one at £240 with 2 x 18v 4.0 ah battery

Bosch I would imagine as I hear dewalt are just pimped up Black+Deckers.

With that logic Ferrari must have started putting Fiat internals in their cars when they were bought by Fiat...

Dewalt and B&D are completely different.

As for the OP's question, both are very good. It's hard to say which is better as both are constantly being developed and changed. Either Bosch or Dewalt will be a very good tool that should last a long time and take a lot of abuse.

You get what you pay for with tools and both Bosch and Dewalt make cheaper drills that are designed for light trade use. These are usually in the £100 range. If you want the real professional gear they usually cost twice as much. The £100 light trade gear is still far better than B&D or the really crappy stuff like B&Q own brand etc.

He's not too far from the truth. I remember one day we were messing about with a Dewalt cordless and charger and inside the charger was stamped Black & Decker. Maybe it's different more recently but they used to share parts.

I have been using and servicing Dewalt tools for over 10 years and have never seen a B&D part.

And I've seen dewalt box sleeves with white black on decker stickers on

Just search the net Stanley black and decker makes dewalt

I don't need to, they're completely different tools. Do you really think people would use a £300 Dewalt driver if they could buy a £50 B&D and its exactly the same inside?

Like i said, I have never seen a B&D part inside a Dewalt tool. They buy in switches from another company and other parts. No tool company makes every singe part. So maybe the two share some of the bought in parts and they both got the same sticker put on.
