Bosch professional or dewalt

DeWalt drills (at least the good ones) use Elu technology. Before DeWalt bought Elu in the 1990s, you never saw a DeWalt cordless drill on a site.

My 4 year old (maybe more) DeWalt DC925 is worlds apart from any Black & Decker branded cordless drill made to date. Black & Decker branded tools are DIY grade tools.

Buy any professional grade cordless drill and you can't really go wrong. Bosch (blue), Makita, Hitachi, Panasonic, AEG, Metabo, Milwaukee, Hilti (if you're made of money) all make great drills.

I remember the Elu drills, that's going back a bit, used to get a good name. In a similar scenario about the B&D part inside the Dewalt charger, I can remember it was probably the Elu & Dewalt drills looked identical for a bit, maybe while Elu got phased out & Dewalt was taking off so there could well have been a lot of parts & casings getting used up for a while.

I use the DC925, best drill I have ever used and I have had loads over the years. I'm thinking of buying another just in case they phase out the old type battery drills in favour of the newer slide on type.

Is it still the case that DeWalt is actually Erbauer internals in a yellow casing at a massive markup?

Just seen this, where the hell did you hear that? It has never been the case.

Erbauer are awful tools, or at least they were the last time I tried one. People see the German sounding name and think they're good tools in the same league as Bosch. They are Chinese designed and made and branded as Erbaur by Screwfix afaik and are aimed at DIY.

Same goes for Einhell, although these are even worse.
