Boss fights

I love boss fights that have a good tactic/weakness based system that you have to work out rather than the arbitrary "he has more health than normal"

FF13 i thought was good for this.

Indeed. Just a bigger guy with more health and 'immunity to stun' (or something similar) is always so lame as a boss fight.

I suppose if you want epic boss fights just go look up Shadow of the Colossus.
 
^^That is one game that I would like to play, not because of the enemies, more so to do with the expanse of the world, and the refreshing absence of umpteen bad guys. Just looks like something different.
 
Fully agree with Shadow of the Colossus and many of the painkiller bosses. Not necessarily hard but just epic fights against huuuuge monsters, not just a normal bloke who has somehow built an immunity to under 100 bullets.
 
Darksiders: Final Battle - The Destroyer.

I beat it on its hardest setting and I have never felt such a sense of achievement from any game up to or since.

I Do all games on the hardest setting just to feel this way and nothing has came close....well maybe Emerald Weapon.

Dont have starcraft 2 but I have won tournament money playing red alert 2 so cant imagine any RTS holding me back.... don't flame me I have never played it, for all I know its crazy impossible , I never played any other game apart from RA2 from Christmas 2000 until summer 2008, I had some back catalogue to play I can tell you.

Edit: sorry It wasnt 2008 it was Christmas 2007
 
Boss fights on ff8 were awesome. And Borderlands is a recent game that has got them right. Infact the recent dlc (Claptrap Robolution) is brilliant in how you fight the bosses.
 
I never bothered with Omega Weapon on FF8... realistically it was just tedious. You had to build your entire game towards defeating it or it was 100x harder than it needed to be. All that rubbish like Holy War and stuff that you just never got on a normal playthrough and learning ONLY invincible moon as Rinoa to increase the likelihood of it using it.

You could say the Dark Aeons and maybe Penance from FF10. Well once you got to the ones that couldn't be killed in 1 turn by Wakka and his Attack Reels. Then you had a real fight on your hands.

SCII multiplayer is on another planet to any other RTS.

The single player, even on Brutal is well.. tricky, but not really taxing for big RTS players.


Forgot to add, more bosses i hated! the last boss in Fable 1. took me ages to figure it out for some reason, but then i do like boss fights that take some thinking rather than just a guy with MOAR HEALTH!.. striking at the right moments, knowing when to take cover, heal yourself, reload etc...

EDIT: Diablo 1/2 single player had some good boss fights. bit rubbish if you went muliplayer though as it was generally just faceroll.

Which 1 was that? The 'go up lift and fire rocket' boss? Can never which boss was where...

Yeah, basically. You had to avoid all the incoming fire - which were monsters too, whilst you could only do damage when the door was open.

Aye thats the 1 i thought. I can imagine that boss being considerably easier with zdoom giving you mouse look in all 3 axes :D
