You need the jumper on your IDE hard drive set to master as SATA only supports a single drive per connector. So long as you've done this it should work. Just check in the BIOS that the drive is being detected.
I've got an IDE drive connected to a SATA port via a converter myself, it works great with no problems at all.
thanks Roll did it last night, and its working fine. With most of the new mobo's only suporting 1 ide channel, this is a good way of using your old ide drives.
