Bought a flat!

theres been a lot of "I just bought a *property*" thread on here lately.. does this mean people are actually buying houses again? Could be good news as my parents have been trying to sell their house for over 2 years now. Nice house too! its a shame this 'climate' means they won't get a decent price for it :(
People were still buying - its just very few are first time buyers. My grand parents sold their 4 bed a few weeks ago. Went on the market Friday and sold/agreed by Wednesday following at full asking price (they could have got more, but wanted to move quite quick). Just needs to be priced realistically.

This thread made me look at local properties. Im gonna miss this town when I join RAF, specially when I see how cheap flats/houses are here :(

cant believe the price

that is amazing for the money

where i am (london) you would just get a shoebox for that...

Wow..congrats! i cant believe you got a place like that for £81K. For something half decent in my area im looking at probably a minimum of £140K

Personally I wouldnt get rid of the fireplace but it's up to you.

Also if it were me I would just buy some big rugs for the flooring - will still look good and make it easier to clean as well.

Nice flat, also good to see you can get places for a reasonable price here to compared to the rest of the uk, though I think it'll be at about 10 years before I buy a place :P.

Why?

Also that looks a nice and comfy pad ;)
Look at the last picture, there doesn't seem to be that much space between the wall and the chair yet the worktop on the left side seems to extend further than it should...

Maybe it's just me.

Leave the wooden flooring there and get big rugs or carpets, ripping it out would be a BIG mistake. Same with the fireplace.

Completely agree, the wooden flooring is unique and very pricey, same goes with the fireplace. When it comes to selling you'll have knocked money of the price by removing these two details.

That looks lovely mate! How much deposit was needed to secure it if you don't mind me asking?

Well I had 15k saved up but I’ve decided to put exactly 15% of the 81k down for the deposit so £12,150. Means I’ve got £2850 left to buy some furniture and stuff that I need.

Are you sure the area is classed as Queens park and not something like, Govanhill, Langside or Shawlands?

Yea as far as I know, its near to the Queens Park railway station which is quite near to Shawlands but the street its on comes under Queens Park.

Quite happy with the location becuase a short walk takes me into Shawlands and the city centre is only 10 mins away too.
