Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

£217 for 700 miles in an M3 in North Wales doesn't sound bad at all. I regularly pop over the border (one of the benefits of living 30 mins away I suppose!) and I'm lucky to see much more than 15mpg. Tho these days Llanberis pass etc are so chock full of tourists and appallingly parked cars you can barely move most of the time.
You moved up north DRZ? :) I thought you were down near Portsmouth (i am so out of the loop!)

I also did notice a lot of average speed cams set up on a number of those nice roads too which I wasn't expecting. I thought Waze was a bit confused until the signage appeared up ahead. I guess maniacs were being maniacs for too long on those parts :p

Not an issue however, those AVG zones were still 60MPH and you can have a lot of fun with a noisy engine with that.

If you stay away from all of the publicised roads (Evo Triangle etc) then there are still a few unspoiled roads around. Then you just gamble on motorbike cops with cameras hiding in hedges like the good old days, or camera vans in tricky spots - there is a particularly evil place in Capel Curig where they like to hide.

Yeah I moved back ~9 months ago. My Father has Cancer and my Mum is terminally ill - being 4-5 hours away was too taxing in various ways as I am sure you can imagine :)

Finally a thing that has been bugging me for a long time now, bubbling door handle trims which affects all E46s that have the plastic trim, the aluminium ones simply go shiny or scratch leaving silver which is equally annoying really but this is really nice now.

The original E46 door handle trims bubble over time and need to be stripped to bare plastic and done properly with modern paint that doesn't bubble the same way. Got mine from a cutters member, £35 each. Nice nice.

Look at that finish:

Is that a cutters member doing that as a service? If so, do you have a link? Mine have bubbles and could do with this level of attention!

Tis the way with these now :p

I installed the door trims today, quite a bit of faff getting the old trims off, everything is so tightly clamped together and the guides online don't mention the metal retaining clips either so had I followed those guides I'd have smashed those clips right off and broken pins... FIgured it out with a bit of visual reverse engineering :p

Interior is nearly like new :p

The gen2 XtremeVision bulbs are in now too, forgot you have to take the airbox out to get to one of the bulbs which was also a faff. Old ones were 50% more vision, these are 150%, intrigued to see how they fare at night!

Updated the phone charging system from the old DIY mod to a custom unit that replaces the slide out cubby/cupholder unit. Made by INDUKTIV in the USA, not cheap but they're the only people doing something like this. Taps into the 12v lighter socket for power.

The wedge thing is a bumper/stopper you can move up and down to stop the phone sliding back and forth. The cupholder insert is soft silicone for easy cleaning, not that I drink in the car anyway...
