Bought New Hard Drive... Can't Use It?

the members market is hit and miss i personally have tried to access it in the past and have over 250 posts but unable to access it at all wiedly.

price wise like suveyor said.

You can't access the Members Market until you've activated your trust.

Click on the trust button in one of your own posts.

Once you've activated your trust you should have Members Market access within 24 hours.

You're welcome :)

FYI, you do realise you can take the whole PC?

Thanks :). I know I can take the whole PC but the frustration it's causing me is really making me want to throw it in the pond atm. I've got a decent spec:

AMD Phenom 9850 2.5Ghz Black Edition Quad Core Processor
Corsair XMS2 PC6400 DDR2 800Mhz 2 x 2048Mb Memory
Corsair 850W TX PSU
500GB Western Digital Black SATA Hard Drive
Asus M3A-7T Deluxe Motherboard (think this is meant to be good for overclocking?)
HIS 4870X2 Graphics Card
DVD-RW Drive (ide iirc)

OS: Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, Product Key has blocked itself out though. It was a genuine one that Microsoft gave out from Technet. All the others I've tried have also failed to work.

Yet I can't get Bad Company 2 to work (something about side by side configuration), it won't play Test Drive Unlimited 2 on max settings without decent frames (probably getting about 10). Can't play GTA:IV on decent settings, can't play SA:MP (GTA:San Andreas Multiplayer) on decent frames without getting big drops (sometimes down to 15fps iirc). I'm tempted just to sell the lot up and get rid of it. Moving abroad I'm going to have enough to concentrate on but it still means that when it's quiet I'm going to need to find something else to do. Not really enjoyed PC gaming for quite a while, especially when you spend money on games and can't use them!

Right, formatted it on my dads laptop and it still isn't working. Plug it into my laptop and it doesn't appear in my computer. It does appear in disk management though. What's going on... help is appreciated guys :).

If you've already formatted, you wont need to format it again. Its more likely whichever PC is giving you the problem just isnt showing the partition as it hasnt been assigned a letter.

Assigning a letter isnt a permanent thing and can be changed whenever you want, but its not something most people change once its been done. You can also take away the drive letter later if for some reason you want to hide a drive (its a bit smoke and mirrors, its not really hidden very well).

If its not showing in the BIOS before windows loads, its a hardware or BIOS setting issue.
If its not showing in Disk Management, its a hardware or driver issue.
If its showing in Disk Management, its a config issue.
If its showing in My Computer, theres no issue.

That's a very helpful post, thank you Skyripper. Hard drive now appears and I'm copying my files over. Only getting 9Mbps though... surely it should be an insane amount higher?

Depends what you are copying.

If it's lots of small files that wouldn't be too surprising from a slow laptop HDD.
If it's large media files then something is not right, you'd expect 25-35 MB/s on USB2.

It was a mixture, mainly lots of files... think it was 100k+. Copied my whole user from my laptop to external backup :). Thank you for the reply, was thinking ok it's finally working to find that I had a duff hard drive and / or enclosure.

Many thanks to all who helped me in this thread :).
