Boxter 3.2S or Z4 3.0?

Epitome.

That's the same Mundane Mundano that was best car in it's class overall, and best car to drive in it's class as well?

What's wrong with settling down with a pet, mortgage and partner? Isn't that what most humans do or have I missed something

The Mondeo was never styled to wet the gusset of a 15 year old girl, it's supposed to be a superb family size hatchback and saloon, which it was and still is.

right ok - the mondeo has a purpose which it is good for - this thread does not have mondeo in the topic title - if you wanna continue talking about them - maybe a new thread? and keep this one on topic?

i was saying that you are paying a lot of cash for a badge, and however good the car is unless you love the styling and have to have a super premium badge then there are many other cars that look better, drive better, and are faster, as well as havign lower servicing costs...without the small minority going "poor mans...whatever"

Which sub £40k Roadster (new) drives better than a Porsche Boxster S?

fair point i am not sure, probably nothing new, but i did say if you include cars 2/3 years old, i am certain there are...and that you will be more than willing to share.

Wind your neck in, this isn't your thread and I wasn't replying to you - I was answering a point raised by another poster.

blah blah

yes, that is why I picked the award winning multipla to emphasise the fact that it winning awards or people telling me how supposedly great it is isn't going to make me have a huge personality and taste change and start liking it. Deal with it.

so anyway, here is a comparison of the two I just found

i wasnt having a go at you personally - just merely saying if you and the others wanna discuss mondeos - you could easily just open a new thread and have at it

i love the quote of psycho sonny that someone has in their sig...i have sat in 100k cars or something...dont mess:p

in regards to mondeos...as much as they are loved here i wasn't trying to start a debate on them.

Whilst often the car you drive is utterly irrelevent - a Fiesta driver is still more than entitled to an opinion on the Bugatti Veyron, if you are making comments which are more than just about the car, what you drive can provide context to your opinion or undermine it. I am not the only one who finds the idea of a base model Golf driver prancing around accusing Boxster owners of being too poor for a 911 highly amusing. If there was ever a car bought by people obsessed with badge to the extent they'll tolerate a car which, on balance, is rather poor, it's those with a Golf with a naff engine in it.

Had you commented on the technical capability of a Boxster, however, your own car would have been completely irrelevent.

I understand what you're saying. The fact is I didn't choose the Golf. It is my mum's car and she only bought the base level model so it would be cheap to insure me and my brothers. It may be slow, but it's a much nicer car than what most of my mates have and the fact I'm driving it for free isn't something worth complaining about. It only enables me to save money during the process of saving up for something nicer when I can afford the insurance.

The Boxster is a great sports car because:

1) It has sublime steering feel and feedback
2) It has lovely balance and handling
3) It has great brakes and braking feel
4) It has a good engine with great responses and noise
5) It has a great driving position and control ergonomics
6) It comes from a company who excels at making sports cars and that comes through

It would be even better if it had more power and an LSD but its pretty much bang on and for the money and based on the above mix of ingredients is good value. At this level the small improvements it offers over the Z4 on the points above to me makes it the better sports car. The Z4 is great fun, but its not as good as a Boxster and even though it will be cheaper to buy it will loose you more when you sell it. We are all different, but having actually driven all of the main Boxster (986/987 S and non S) models and most of the Z4's (3L, 2.5L and M) to me the Boxster is the better of the two cars, but the differences are small.

As with ANY car you should drive them both and make up your own mind as asking for advice on which one is best on a forum frequented in the main by people who are unlikely to have driven both is likely to end up in a discussion around Golfs and Mondeo's :D

thread summed up tbh.

There are two types - a simple one that and a more complicated one. I'm not sure of the differences as yet but the simple one is about £140 and the more complicated one is about £170, new from your local dealer.

thanks - maybe the complicated one moves up and down? so it can be lowered when the roof is up so you can see out the back more clearly

thats rather cheap in my opinion from a dealer and only £30 in it between the 2

i dont know about driving better than a porsche boxster - but im sure it would give it a run for its money - maybe not in the speed department but everything else - handling, smoothness of ride, etc

mercedes CLK

A CLK is so far from giving a Boxster a run for its money on any level beyond practicality it hurts and the SLK, which is perhaps closer is so far away it hurts even more. A CLK is a saloon car with its roof chopped off, it never stands a chance and an SLK is a numb as Heather Mills-McCartney's wooden leg!
