Braces

I was in a similar position. I had an overbite which didnt really annoy me, but i was very aware of it.

Initially i got passed for treatment but then turned it down.

Then just before my 18th birthday i decided to get it done.

Best decision ive ever made. Although it didnt bother me, sub consiously it must have as in all my photos until recently i never smiled.

I do have a metal wire glued into the back of my top two teeth to stop the gap appearing again, but its sooo well worth it!

I had a removable one when i was like 16, which helped a lot, but then they got worse again, im now 21 and seriously considering doing something about them again, as you have said there only gonna get worse, and if your not happy with them now then your not going to be happy in 10 years.

The main problem is the cost, if you can still get them done free, dont give it a second thought as it gets very expensive

More to the point I think, girls, are you less attracted to people with braces? :p

not really the point tho is it, as said above what looks worse, an unattractive smile, or someone with braces who is at least doing something about it, plus think of how much more confident you will feell with a nice smile after.

get brace, iv been harrassing my gf to get some of hers straightened up from when she nutted the curb, shes being a slow bugger about it tho.

I still get free dentistry so that's a plus point I suppose :)

ahh lucky you..

does anyone know how much it costs to get them on nhs?

im 21, been meaning to get them for aaages just never got round to it, dont really care what people think/how it looks, might just do it over xmas if its not too much ?

i have braces, for about a week they are very unconforatble, cant eat anything, but after that you dont even realise they are there, dont really get in the way of anything, i still eat anything except really chewy stuff, i really want to get them off before xmas though (im 16 and there ment to come off in december).

Braces are fine man, i had them for a few years, and even now at uni i have them on the back on my bottom teeth, i really dont even notice them one bit.

The worst part about them though is getting them tightened, jesus that hurts so much with a passion, i can not think of many worse pains.

Get them while they're still free. I was supposed to get braces when I was a kid because of overcrowding in my mouth, but I had a bad experience when the first tooth was taken out to make space, so I never went back. If I was to get them now, it would cost me several hundred pounds, if not into the thousands, as I use a private dentist.

getting them tightened only aches abit, not as bad when you first get them.

I had a brace for around 3 years. Then one day in rugby training I got head butted by accident, my gum got ripped out, that resulted in my teeth going **** again and now I'm back to square one. Sucks to be me  They're in better shape now though.
It can be a pain with eating food etc though. But you deal with it. AndI agree, when you have your brace tightend, damn your in pain.

I have braces at the moment. Don't have any problems at all with them. It didnt hurt one bit putting mine on (not lieing either, I wasnt numbed they just placed them on my teeth and well.. that was it). I had some trouble eating for the first week but they only really hurt when I tried to eat. Tightening isnt too bad either for me. I can eat food nearly straight after fine, dont see what the fuss is?

Tbh I've not found the Brace experience bad at all the only bad part was not being able to eat properly for the first week!
