Braces

I had braces when i was younger, I've got wisdom teeth and they are back to how they used to be, would i have braces put on again before im 18, no way! Far too much hassle.

painful I had a year with a retainer on top, then had train tracks on bottom now I've just had them on the top. seem to be straightening out quickly to be honest

since this has already been bumped .. gf started 'treatment' which was teeth being removed with the idea of brace being put on once so many were out, shes on a waiting list for braces and is now over 18... will she still have to pay the 3k?

I haven't been to the dentist for at least 5 years. My teeth aint bad. I know I need one filling for definite but now at 22 going on 23 my teeth are moving inwards at the top and my bottom front row have always been crowded and a little crooked.

I wish I had it done back then, and after reading this thread i'm worrying if I'll ever afford to get it corrected at all :(

I spose a trip to the dentists in order.

im in a similiar situation. For some reason never had braces when i was younger and i want my teeth fixed now :P. 3k is an almost stupid amount of money (atleast for me atm) to spend

My teeth aren't perfect (they aren't exactly bad either) but i've got one annoying tooth out of place.

I should really get a brace and get it sorted but like you've said, i'm not far off 20 so it just seems a bit...........

Gheeey, mine are straight, its just apparently i wouldnt brush my teeth when i was a child, pfffft i blame my parents ! :D, i get annoyed so much about my teeth, all horrible :(, i have brushed them since i was in year 6 now, but all its done is slowed down how ***** there going :(, i would rather have them all took out tbh, seriously.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but i don't want to start a new one when there is a perfectly good one here already.

I had my train tracks out today and i have nice straight teeth but i've also got my retainers now. My ortho said i must wear them at all times(top+bottom) for at least 6 months, even when i eat. I'm 19 and i think i have stopped growing....So i was wondering...why do they tell different people to wear retainers for different times?

I've also had my braces for over 5 years(severe overcrowding problems) does that help in a way that my teeth won't move back to their original positions so easily?

You can take them out when you eat. Nothing crazy will happen during meal time. When you first get your retainer made when they take off the braces you have to wait a good few hours before the retainer is made and fitted so I don't see the problem.

i had braces from age 8ish until i was 14 & i don't regrete it, what's a year/year & half of braces to a life time of crooked teeth

Got my braces removed on 20th march, had this cool plastic gum shield-esque retainer that I had to wear for 2 weeks constant, except for eating, and now I only have to wear it at night. Couldn't even see it when it was on really, just had really shiny laminated looking teeth :p

It depends what kind of treatment you've had, and what they've fixed. Some factors in a malocclusion (e.g crooked teeth) are more susceptible to relapsing. You'll probably have to wear the retainer for 6 months full time then 6 months at night only

(I passed my dental finals a couple of weeks ago...woo!)
